because these days, unique leads to strange. i want your reasonings for naming a child (who, by the way, will someday be 15...27....40...65...80) something like "vanilla skye" and "wednesday kate" and some of this other c**p ive been reading on here lately. its not a pet your naming its a human effing being. am i wrong in thinking everyone on this category is a teen mother? prove me wrong. give me your reasons. enlighten me.

ps - dont tell me everyone gets picked on for their name in grade school, because they dont. i didnt, and the only kid that did was one named jock. so there ya go.

  1. um well i know you got wednesday kate off me.

no comments and i like it. its the parents choice not yours.

  2. Look, I find this question to be more of an attack than a genuine search for information. Therefore it is considered chatting, which is against community guidelines.

So either remove this question, or I will report you.

Your holier-than-thou attitude doesn't cut it for this service. And how dare you criticize the mistakes of young girls. Planned or not parenthood is hard enough without people like you publicly making a mockery of these young people.

  3. i know. People don't understand that there are normal names that are not very common.

  4. It's great to have a unique name as long as it's not stupid.  My name is Zalika, which is about as rare as it gets (while still being a previously established name) and I'd much rather have my name instead of Emily, or Jessica, or Hailey.  I never got picked on for my name.  The worst I've gotten is mispronunciations, but being that it's a cultural name, it doesn't bother me.

I know an idiot who named her daughter Allysibithe.  Yes, that's Elisabeth completely butchered.  Elyzabeth, or even Alisabeth would have been nice, but Allysibithe?  Good gods.....

Oh, and I also know a man named Richard Cox (d**k Cox!), and a girl named Easter Sundae (last name).  Wow!

Oh, and I'm not a teen mother.  I was 19 when my first child was born, but we put a lot of thought into her name.  Plus, I've been with my fiance since we were 14 and 12 so....whatever, she WAS planned.  I could have named my child something stupid as most teenagers would, but I didn't because I love and respect my babies.  I wish other people would feel the same towards their children.

My daughters are Kristan Morsa and Jarzi Lynn.  I wasn't at all thinking "omg she's gotta be like so unique becuz I don't want everyone being totally like her!".  Kristan was named after my two friends, Krystan and Kristin and we just combined the spellings.  Morsa is my middle name, which is tradition.  (Yes, Morsa is a made up name, but being that it's tradition and unique to my family, it has meaning to us.)  Jarzi's name was made up.  My fiance wanted our daughter to have a special name, and the true meaning of Jarzi is personal and special to us alone.  We didn't just stick a bunch of letters together and say "LIKE OMGz soo cuuuuute!"  Lynn is his grandmother's first name.  I've never received any c**p about my children's names, nor have they.

And I'm by no means worried about being called uneducaed or incompetent.  We are both in college and plan on attending graduate school.  I'm sure people will think twice about opening their mouths when they go to say something to US about it.

So, it's okay to be unique as long as it's a NAME, and not jibberish.  THAT, and those stupid trendy names!  Harper, Aiden, Kayden, Brayden, Nevaeh, and Caylee are GRRRRRRRRR!!!

Besides, unless a name is made up, there are no "unique" names, now that I think about it.  There are RARE names, as in my case, and there are unique names, as in my daughter's case.

  5. holy cow.  i totally agree with your.  it seems that many people here feel that they are naming an animal, not a person.

  6. My name is Ashley. Do you know how much it blows to always have at least two other Ashley's in every class in school??? I used to feel like my mother didn't even think about what my name should be she just went huh, it's a girl and obviously girls are named Ashley. I gave my son a unique name that had a lot of meaning behind it and I'm glad I did. However, I do see your point when people name their kid Peekaboo.

  7. Good question!  I wonder if it may be a "keeping up with the Jones" situation.  All these celebrities name their children ridiculous things like Apple, Moxie Crimefighter, Coco, and all other kinds of weirdness.  I feel bad for the kids.  I have a Grace and an Emma, sometimes I wonder if their names are too common, but at least they'll be able to get a job!

  8. I'm with you on this one- I have no idea where some of these ideas are coming from.

When I have children, if I have girls they will be given classy names like Rachael or Samantha, and if I have boys they will be named after their paternal lineage - there's some very good classical names in there, Christopher (me), David (my Dad), Walter (my Grandfather), Charles (my great Gradfather)...

  9. I agree that some parents do give their children very strange names.

Except I don't agree with the comment 'everyone on this category is a teen mother'.

That's a really rude thing to say. And, no I'm not a teen mother.

But in the end your opinion doesn't count. It's the parents choice (:

And about the comment 'mrs_blasor' made that atleast her children will get job because they have relatively common & normal names...thats a ridiculous thing to say. Quite offensive too. Some people are just creative.

Oh and was this a rant or a real question?

  10. lol i agree partially i like generally like different names which you dont see much(my name is Timo) but i think people who name their kids after days or foods are stupid. its as if they have just looked around the room and seen something they like and named their kid after it.

o you might like to see this aswell now there are some stupid names. its about some kid who was alowed to change their name because it was to stupid. it makes names like "vanilla skye" and "wednesday kate" sound decent/normal

  11. If I had had children I would have picked names that would have been difficult to make fun of in school. Kids are really mean to each other and it can warp their heads. Some family names are no better though.I have a Waldemar and Horacio in my family.
