Do you think that our Country is headed into a depression or do you think that we can bounce back from this. Everyone I know is hurting financially and bosses aren't providing raises to compensate for the cost of living because their businesses are suffering as well. Interested in your opinions!

  1. All fuel is taxed.  Therefore, the higher the price, the more money the government collects.  Also the oil companies line the governments pockets so that they don't have to be accountable.

  2. I don't think the government can do anything short term to lower the price. I think USA citizens can do alot to lower the costs they swallow regarding oil/gasoline.

I do not think the USA is heading into a depression. Maybe a recession. I think the issue was that, socially, Americans started living well beyond thier means - buying far out mcMansions, oversized vehicles, charging up thousands of dollars in debt, and buying 4 dollar coffee cups in drive thru's instead of brewing the same c**p at home...

Now the other foot is dropping.

The time has come for most Americans to start saving, cutting frivilous purchases, pay down debt and move towards economic freedom, not dependence.  You know, after the depression and WWII - this country started a massive upward climb financially. And, if we open our eyes and see that we have lived well outside of our means - like our grand parents and great- grandparents did in the "Roaring 1920's" - we can start to rebuild.

Read the book the "Great Gatsby".  It is about how people started living well beyond their means in the 1910's and 1920's just before the Great Depression.

  3. It truly is complicated, but the 2000 pound gorilla in the room are the oil executives and their cronies who occupy the top levels of our government.

They will not sacrifice, and they will do everything to maximize their profit. They aren't in office to serve the public. They have put themselves there for their own gain.

Anyone who thinks the Bush's and Cheney's of this world aren't more than pleased with what's going on is living in la la land.

These men are only about self interest.

  4. The government or federal reserve control the value of the dollar which is in the tank the could change that by raising the interest rate . If they did that the financial markets would collapse .

  5. Ha, yes.

And it's a little more complicated...

  6. The government won't do anything because the higher gas prices go, the richer they get. The profits that Bush, the gas ceo's, and the Saudi princes accumulate are obscene. Why would they stop? We keep paying, and they know no one will do anything about it.

  7. It costs that much because they know people will pay it and they don't care.

  8. I fell that the government should give a raise to people that ask exspeically if they are haveing financial problemes!!!!!!!!

After a while some people will  be so much in the hole trying to pay bills they will not be able to afford gas for  their car, in which case they could not drive to work, so the place they work at would lose employies!!!!!!!!!!!

PS: Hope my answer helps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   : ]
