Question:

Why do you guys keep saying Hogan's legdrop is overrated?

Don't you guys remember that Hogan was in his prime in the 80's! When people had DDT's and Suplexes for finishers. Mr. Perfect's perfect plex was just a fisherman suplex, Jake Roberts used a DDT, Randy Savage used a flying elbow.

Nowadays, it's all about the theatrics, and something fancy and innovative. Look at the Tombstone, the Pedigree, Styles Clash, Canadian Destroyer, 619 etc etc.

If someone used a leg drop as a finisher today than it would be overrated but not back in the 80's.

  1. OK just imagine if you got DDT your head would be spiining and it would hurt as h**l.

Fisherman suplex well guess what if I did thah to you you wouldn't stand for at least 5 minutes but if I drills you with a leg drop you would get up back again for 3 seconds.

It only affects the chest so so OVERRATED.

  2. Yeahhhh becuase its a legdrop!

  3. its just dropping a leg on someone anyone can do it, tombstone makes pain also 619, pedigree, sweet chin music and more.

No even in the 80's it was still over rated, i dont like drops with theatrics like 5 knuckle shuffle. Although i like Rock bottom

Check Out my Stone Cold tribute and my other videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsrA9hwIi...

  4. Many moves are difficult and require a lot of athletic ability and practice.

The leg drop is not one of them.

  5. For the record, Flair's chops WOULD hurt...to the 1 who said they wouldn't.  As for Hogan's Legdrop, it WAS overrated becuae it would have no real effect on the recipent.  It was overrated as a finishing maneuver that supposedly inflicted pain.  It was NOT overrated as a crowd pleaser.  Theatrics?  That's not just now.  It was just as prevalent then and all through wrestling history.  How did Hogan get the fans so excited about such a uselss move?  Theatrics.  The Legdrop, The People's Elbow, 5 Knuckle Shuffle, The Worm, and so on are all the same...Theatrically performed normally useless moves.  A flying elbow I think would cause a little more pain, but it's also not a great finisher.  The DDT, Pedigree, and Tombstone are all moves that WOULD inflict damage.  The Fisherman's Suplex is  a move that is in between, but more effective than the Legdrop.  Honestly I love Rey Mysterio and his 619, but it's along the lines of the legdrop.  ok.  I'm done now.  : 0 )

  6. Hogan's legdrop is just a legdrop, it doesn't effect you much, whereas a DDT or a suplex so effect you.

  7. his leg drop takes very limited skill to pull off

  8. Leg drops stink

  9. The move is too basic to be a convincing Finishing Move.

Even in the 80's, there were moves that were more impressive by lesser characters with almost just as much fame. And out of the list of moves you gave, the only "fancy" ones are the 619 and the Canadian Destroyer, though that move is dangerous if done wrong.

The Tombstone Slam, Styles Clash, a DDT and the Pedigree all have the potential to paralyze you. A Leg Drop can't, especially when others were doing the same thing and their opponents still kicked out.

  10. You've got to remember that the image of pro-wrestling was a bit more campier back in those days. It was awesome to see that famed leg-drop because it was something linked to the enigma that was Hulk Hogan. I find that most Hulk Hogan fans know how weak of a finisher it really is, though.

The theatrics are what keeps the product fresh. I mean, how could a WWE Superstar be taken seriously at a barfight. Can you see the smoke rising from the earth and then the Boogeyman showing up with a bag of worms at a barfight? It is pure entertainment. Most of us are very realistic about that.

The leg-drop was all the rage back in those days. But assuming Hulk Hogan first laced his bootstraps, say, during the Attitude era, I think it's very likely that even that crowd would sooner buy the Stone Cold Stunner than Hulk Hogan waving his finger and dropping his boot. It wasn't overrated then. It is overrated now.

  11. Just like Flair's chop and the Rock's elbow, it doesn't do anything.

  12. BECAUSE A LEGDROP SUCKS UNLESS IT'S OFF THE TOP ROPE BOBBY EATON STYLE OR SPRINGBOARD LIKE AN ARABIAN FACEBUSTER. PLUS THE DDT IS AN IMPACT MOVE, THE SAME CANNOT BE SAID FOR A LEGDROP.

I DO AGREE WITH YOU ON THE 619 AND THE CANADIAN DESTROYER THOUGH. BECAUSE THOSE TWO MOVES ARE INCREDIBALLY CONTRIVED AND FAKE, BUT COMEON, COMPARING HULK HOGAN'S LEGDROP TO JAKE ROBERT'S DDT IS LIKE COMPARING **** (LEGDROP) TO CHOCOLATE (DDT)

i MEAN EVEN THE FU IS BETTER

  13. Let's start by saying this: the DDT is one of the most dangerous moves in all of wrestling.  If the offensive wrestler doesn't provide the proper amount of padding, they can severely injure their opponent.  Secondly, the Fisherman's Suplex required a huge degree of difficulty to execute the maneuver and keep the bridge for the pin. And if you don't think a flying elbow could finish a match, lay down, and let me climb some ropes.

The legdrop is overrated because it requires no talent or coordination to pull off, and is not a lethal maneuver.  Hogan used the legdrop because he couldn't do any actual wrestling maneuvers.  You talk about theatrics?  Hogan's whole career was based on his size and look, not his wrestling ability.

  14. Kayfabe is dead and so is Hogan's popularity.....Hogan throws the weakest kick in the business.....really all he does is put his foot in the air and expect people to fall down from its evil stink....then he rubs is foot fungus in the face again with the leg drop.

  15. I bet you stole that from my question lol...but yes as i said in my question earlier it is OVERRATED anyone can do a LEG DROP

Big SHOW CAN do it and does it but not all wrestlers give up..

The Flying elbow from savage was pretty awesome looked cool when he jumped off.

  16. I don't know.  To me, Hogan always did a great job of selling that move.  Not sure it would work for anyone ELSE, but he pulled it off.  Hogan was over 320 lbs in his prime, and when you drop that weight from 4-5 feet, it COULD be an effective finisher.  In today's day and age, the crowd would be chanting "BORRRR-ING!", but Hogan didnt wrestle in today's day and age.

  17. Its basic.

  18. So, a knee-drop to the face/top of the head NEVER finished anyone, but a leg-drop did? Yeah, man, that makes perfect sense. You're actuallly talking about an era when Dynamite Kid/Tiger Mask were kicking out of Tombstone piledrivers, but w/e.

The (not "a") DDT >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> any DDT variations. And most of today's WWE finishers. That is all.

You know the difference between those moves and the legdrop? People like HHH, HBK and Orton have all had to job to the legdrop this decade. That's why it sucks.

Oh, and lol at your list of moves, and the fact that the DDT was far more innovative and better than all of them, except the Tombstone (which is older than the DDT).

And finally, please, do take some of Flair's chops to the chest until you bleed and then tell me they don''t hurt.
