As a leafs fan who lives in Ottawa, I hate the senators because of their ridiculous fans, who don't know anything about hockey and jump on the bandwagon when they're playing well and try to look cool by being a "huge" fan.  The only season their fans watch is the postseason.  A real fan follows the offseason, the pre-season, the regular season and the postseason.

Oh God I hate the Leafs. How to count the ways... the fact the organization and fans consider it the center of the hockey universe (even though it is the most dysfunctional organization in pro-sports ever). The fact they love to snub the non-traditional markets and constantly sqawk about contraction. Nevermind the fact there are some die-hard fans in those non-traditional markets that sometimes draw better than traditional ones. And the fact that any team can sit there and whine about other teams being cheaters/divers/goons when they have guys like Domi and Tucker on the roster. Are you kidding me??? Hate 'em, hate 'em all. Hope they go another 40+ years without a Cup.

Montreal and Ottawa are close seconds behind the Leafs for many of the same reasons. Something about that part of Canada I suppose since Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary don't bother me in the least.

Close third is Pittsburgh for all the aforementioned reasons. I hate having a team shoved down my throat while the media tries to turn them into "America's team." s***w that.

I am a Toronto Maple Leaf fan, and so I have three least favourite teams.

Detroit Red Wings - Leafs and Wings were in the same conference when I was growing up and had some nasty playoff battles, the Dead Things had "class" players like Probert, Kocur, some talentless d-men nicknamed "Hack and Whack" because that's all they were good for... even though they are now a model franchise filled with mostly classy players, and the fact they are in the West while the Leafs are in the East, my hate for them has remained.

Montreal Canadiens - It's a history thing.

Ottawa Senators - pretty much what CrosbyIsLove said... and for evidence of why she's right about what many (not all) Sens fans are like, just read SENSor's post... just brutal... 'nuff said.

There's just so much of a historical rivalry between predomiantely francophone Montreal and anglophone Toronto, much too much to say in a few words, so how about if I post an article my brother submitted while working at the Tucson Citizen (that's in Arizona) in 1993 when all Canada was hoping for a Leafs - Canadiens final?

I love hockey first.  I love the Wings second. I happen to hate the Ducks and the Flames.   Because of my love of the game, I want the best team to win, even if it isn't the Red Wings.  I don't mind losing to a good, hard hitting, clean team.  I hate seeing teams like Calgary and Anaheim win because not only do I believe them completely dirty, but whiners as well.    Pansies like Ghetzlaf are the complete contrast to the thuggish Pronger. . .

Detroit Red Wings.....

1. I've always hated the over hype.

2. My dad drove it into my head when I was young "Hate the Wings"

I hate the Rangers because of rivalry.  That's pretty much it.  And Sean Avery didn't help matters much.  I also dislike the Maple Leafs because Tie Domi elbowed Scott Nidermayer in the head and knocked him out of the playoffs.

i am a ranger fan so i hate the islanders aka the ice-landers the most because they just don't compare to the rangers and never will. they will never be as famous, never be as good, never have as many fans, never have as nice an arena and will just never be like the rangers. i can't stand the stupid sign they have on the coliseum that says "we are all islanders" it makes me wanna throw up. i hate the colors on their jersey. i hate their stupid fans that have no class. i just can't stand them. i can't stand many of their players especially like DP (sucks) and even other players from their dynasty

I am 54, a life-long Black-hawk fan, am a disabled vet living in Va now and last April got to live a fantasy I have had for 35 years, I went to Philly, the team and fans I have always hated the most, and saw a Stanley Cup playoff game between philly  and the Caps. Twenty years ago I would have got in a fight, but my wife made me promise to put on an orange shirt and keep my mouth shut or she would not let me go, so that is what I did. You got to  relize that the teams and fans you hate the most is what half of what makes sports so great to watch, what fun is it to watch two teams when you like them both, so having said that, the Flyer fans did not dissappooint, what a bunch of jerk-offs, still would not have missed it for the world, ended up real bad when the Flyers won in double overtime.

I agree with go pens and I also really really loathe the Flyers for being cheap shot artists, as well as the rangers, teh islanders for being a divisional rival.  Look I will admit the Hossa signing was messed up but do I hate detroit, no I don't.  The Penguins will still be a great team with or without Hossa.  In fact I hope it is the Pens vs the Wing so that when the Penguins win this time Hossa kicks himself for making a mistake.  Now some of the detroit red wings can be ignorant don't get me wrong.  I am not saying all of them but some of them.  i read one answer for a detroit fan that was nice and one that wasn't.  Personally I don't hate detroit Ford Field was the site of the super bowl and having 99% steeler fans including all of detroit people was great.  As for nashville I pity nashville can't hate what you pity.  I mean their team has been dismantled.

1. Nor-Cal So-Cal rivalry. Simple: nor-cal sports fans hate so-cal sports

2. They became really popular after they won the cup, which means full of bandwagoners

5. Too many illegal hits and cheap shots.

The Ottawa Senators are the most classless organization in the NHL, hands down.

obviously I'm biased because of the events described previously, but because of players like Redden (who shoots pucks AT opposing players and hits from behind), McGratton (who truly fights like he's semi-drunk), that wannabe boxer Emery (nutcase who likes designer shoes more than his goalie pads, and yes I realize he's gone but he still blows), and the bush league, no talent, toothless wonder that is Chris Neil...

I can also tell you that their fans are pretty high in the rankings for my most hated as well, based on their behavior at home and away from their own arena... a true hockey fan's utter disappointment.

I don't really hate them, but the Nashville Predators annoy me. Have you ever been to a game there? I don't mind them calling half the game "Chelios is a sissy" even when he's not out there lol, but their "fang fingers" makes me sick.

I used to hate the Avs, but now I just greatly dislike them. Over the past few years I have began to hate the Penguins more and more. I have always hated #66, he is the definition of a *****. Crosby is following in his foot steps...Good to see he's learning something from his land lord.

I hate the Leafs because of their delusional and quite moronic, I might add, fans...I mean, check out the girl a couple of spots above - her name is "CrosbyIsLove", but she is a die-hard Leafs fan?  That makes sense.  Shouldn't her name be "FingerIsLove"? Probably more appropriate...And I never get tired of the Leafs comeback "Uh, the Sens are gonna choke in the playoffs again..." "Hate" isn't a strong enough word, I "megaloathe" Philadelphia, because I live in Pittsburgh - we have a bad history, at least from my POV anyway. They beat us our first game against them 1-0, on October 19, 1967....we once went 15 consecutive years without a victory there!!! Our record in Philly was 0-39-3! In 1969 we were going to draft Bobby Clarke, but passed him up because of his diabetes.........we basically handed them their best player ever and two Cups!! I don't like how they treat visiting teams in their arena, absolutely no respect. Not to mention....every Flyers fan, at least that I've met in real life, are true douchebags. Online they're all cool as h**l though haha. (For the most part, anyway)

The Penguins now because of all their fans sense of entitlement to everything, just because they have the media crowned god of the NHL.  Crosby and Malkin are enjoyable to watch, but I can't like them because they are way overpraised.

Otherwise I don't care about other teams... If they are not the Red Wings I just don't care.  They are all the same... opponents.  Sure there are players that I don't like, but that is only because they are not Wings and probably do good against them or something.

In all of my days of watching hockey, the only player I can say that I cannot stand and would NEVER want to see on my team is Claude Lemieux.  Sure he is a clutch guy, but seeing him in his days in Colorado, he was a gutless coward.  And I'm not referring to the "turtling" he did with McCarty, that was understandable.  His gutlessness not only was shown when he refused to apologize for his cheap shot on Kris Draper, but the ONLY players he EVER went after were small players.  He NEVER had the guts to stand up when a tough guy came in.  I'm not talking about agitator type plays, where he would agitate anyone on the ice, then decline invitations to fight.  After whistles he would find a non-physical player and do the "rough" stuff, then once a tough guy came near, he would run away.  A little off the subject, I know, but that is my only hate.

well i hate the pens. and here's why

1. everybody sees crosby as a god when in reality he isnt as incredible as they think he is. dont get me wrong he's good but not as good as people who dont know about hockey think he is.

2. everybody loves fleury. I honestly don't see what makes him so special, i would take lundqvist, nabby, kipper, or turco over him in a heartbeat.

3. all these goalies that i know want all yellow rbk pads just to look like fleury. i think its stupid especially when none of their teams have any colors even close to yellow.

4. i personally believe that they are not a team. they are a line. and thats why they couldn't win the cup.

5. when people see crosby, malkin, and fleury they automaticly think that the pens are the best team in the nhl. this makes everyone think that they are the only good team when others such as the wings stars and sharks dont get the respect they deserve.

I am a leafs fans and i HATE the senaturds.

first off, it's a classic ontario rivalry, but their classless fans make it so much worst.

you always hear ottawa fans beating people up during games, like that incident with that sabres fan where the ottawa fan punched that woman.

and also, just on facebook, ottawa fans decide that coming into our groups and talking **** that has NOTHING related to hockey is the best way to spend their time.

i don't mind talking bad about our team and telling us we suck and stuff because it's still within the rivalry, but when you come in our group and start calling all the girls whores and talking **** about people's fiancées based on their profile pictures, then there's a problem.

anyways, yeah..surprisingly i don't hate montreal.

it's definitely good to beat them though.

SENSor- there's nothing wrong with my name being CrosbyIsLove and being a die-hard leafs fan. I'm a die-hard hockey fan in general as well and Crosby is one of my favourite players, as well as penguins are one of my favourite teams. Which was amazing when they completely humiliated and murdered you in the playoffs, but that's beside the point. The point i was trying to make was that a lot of sens fans (i'm not saying all) are very classless. The ones I have seen have comebacks that are not at all related to hockey, which irritates me dearly. You can say my team sucks, I don't care, it's still within hockey, but when you start talking about things like how much my mom sucks, that's just retarded.

But I'm saying the fact that some of the sens fans say those type of things, on top of the natural rivalry between our teams, it just makes me hate them more. And the topic question was why you hate your most hated team, and i gave an answer. and as for the word retarded as being classless, it might have been uncalled for, but i wouldn't classify it as classless, compared to some of the things i've heard.

and yes, i do like bringing up the getting swept point, it is still in the context of hockey. and i appreciate you staying in the context of hockey as well. hopefully next year we're gonna make it. and we're not playing you guys anymore for the home opener, that's a change.
