  1. Actually you can, that's the way I make iced tea, 4 large family size tea bags in a gallon pitcher or container, add hot or cold tap water, let sit overnight in the fridge and you will have excellent ice tea

  2. The hot water helps the tea to steep.

  3. Lipton now makes a cold brew tea bag for making ice tea. It is great, that is all I use now to make my ice tea.

  4. It gives it more flavor. Letting it soak it in. For one reason or another Hot water gathers more flavor.

  5. Because there would be no flavor. And no one said you had to "boil" it. I just get hot tap water.

  6. You can try making sun tea. Place 12-14 tea bags in a large( clean) pickle jar and fill it with water. Cover the jar loosly with the lid. Sit in the sun at least 5 hours. Bring it in, remove the bags and chill. When ready, you can add sugar, lemon or what ever else you'd like. I do this alot^_^

  7. you dont have to boil it, it just makes it taste more tea. and yes when you put the tea bag in water and add ice, its a ice tea.

  8. To better steep the tea it should be hot. It does not need to be boiling though as that can destroy many nutrients, especially with green tea.

I make mine by the gallon. I make it with hot, purified water, and let it sit on the counter overnight or for at least a few hours. Then I will remove the tea bags and put it in the fridge.

Putting boiling hot water in the fridge isn't the best thing to do.
