Why do you have to have your foot out of the binding when on the lift?

There is no bar where I go skiing. Also you can't put your foot back in the binding while going up or you get kicked out.

  1. I'm not sure of that either, although I suspect it is so you can get the h**l out of the way faster if you fall. If both feet are in the bindings, you cannot move out of the way fast. Oftentimes people are in the way, and you accidentally stop and if your foot is in the binding, you can't move and get out of the way. I am not a big friend of the stomp pad, but with practice, it gets easier.

  2. you need to walk up to the lifts so they can keep moving. you can rest your board on top of your free foot so the strapped in foot doesn't get strained from the weight of the board. that is why you need a good stomp pad so when you get off the lifts your loose foot does not slip off the board. It gets easier and easier as time goes by.

  3. The safety bar is for chumps!

  4. Because most lifts require you to put the handle in between your legs and therefore if you fell while on the lift with your bindings on then you are most likely to get dragged along and not be able to free yourself. Also when first getting onto the lift you need to be able to move about with your foot and when getting off you basically need to walk a bit so its simply not practical to have both bindings on unless you're an expert and want to do tricks while going up the lift.

  5. Just because you need to push yourself through the chairlift line.

Some places don't care if you strap in when you are on the chair by yourself - but it is actually harder to get off the lift if you do - it is hard to twist around enough to get the board straight.

    Good Luck

  6. aside from having to have a foot out at the base to be able to push yourself foreward, I dunno. I have been yelled at many times for strapping in while on the lift (one of the beauties of rear entry bindings). It jacks up the whole idea that I hook up, dismount and ride off without stopping, but some liftie has to jump my S**t for it and disrupt the flow of traffic and stuff.... (There's one liftie in particular that i think is just jealous because I can do it without falling and she can't) Still don't understand what the big deal is....  some tard probably got hurt  and sued them or something. BAH!

  7. usually the lift people don't like it if you go up with both feet in. so i'd say the safe way to go (and the safe way meaning not getting your lift ticket taken away!) is to take your foot out. i mean, it takes what, 15 - 20 seconds to put it in? it's really no big deal!
