To update your itouch to 2.0 you have to pay 9.95. is this reasonable? and why do we have to pay for more? I thought apps were free and now most of them are not free anymore.

  1. There are tons of free apps as well as the pay apps. My advice is to do the update, dont buy apps unless you really need them. Alot of the apps cost money at first then you will see them for free later.

  2. because all the applications are distributed by apple and well they make it you pay and no its not reasonable thats why i returned the stupid thing and got more clothes

  3. A lot of the jailbroken applications are not free (Band, Web Search, Five Dice, Solitaire [now Solitaire Top 3], etc.). This is the choice of the developers. But to justify, they've definitely made the applications a lot better (well, not Web Search, but who uses that??).

About 25% or more of the App Store is free. Then again, the rest are for the most part really well done (like Super Monkey Ball...not gonna find that on Installer).

Anyway, the $9.95 is a steal. You get so much for that little price (unlike the January update).

The reason why the iPod Touch gets priced updates is because Apple decided to account the pricing of the iPod Touch all at once instead of over a two year policy like Apple TV and the iPhone.

Because of this, it is a federal law that they have to charge for major updates. This is also why the Mac computers required a $1.99 payment to activate 802.11n.
