I've had linksys, apple, buffalo, etc. and they all require restarts every once in awhile. Why?

  1. it is good from time to time to turn the router off  then back on after say 30 seconds or so just to clear the cache and to reset the DNS , as well as to set a new lease from the ISP , there is a way also to do it in the cmd prompt using ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew but most people don't remember that so just turning off the router and restarting it will be fine

  2. The problem isn't your router, it's your ISP.

Call them and get them to fix the problem, or switch ISPs.

  3. They lose DHCP or the ISP changes the DNS
