  1. Are your clothes sterile? It doesn't matter when you are getting teeth pulled; they are in one of the most bacteria-laden parts of the body. Dust from your clothing could contaminate your abdominal or thoracic cavity. That could be fatal.

  2. Because operating rooms used for invasive surgery are keep as sterile as possible. It has everything to do with the environment and nothing to do with the type of anesthesia used.

  3. Wisdom tooth is removed  under local usually. If done under general it will be an intravenous  short acting anesthetic.

General anesthesia for surgeries of longer duration , wind pipe is intubated ,stomach needs removal of secretions, bladder is drained via a tube to measure urine output , and above all sterility must be ensured. And if an  emergency injection is needed veins must be accessible anywhere. So a slow drip is given.

  4. because if some one go into cardiac rest in  surgery they can atk quirk and do not have to cut your clothes off you to but defib pads on u .

  5. 1.  We don't want your dirty stuff in our (fairly) clean OR.  I once had a patient bring ants into the OR.  He got sent back to the floor for a bath before surgery.  We don't know where you've come from.

    2.  We need to be able to reach you to put the monitors on, as well as the electrocautery grounding pad.

    3.  There's a reasonable chance that you might pee or p**p, and you really don't want to be taking your soiled undies home in a baggie.

    4.  The prep we use stains clothes.

    5.  Constricting clothing can cause problems.  General anesthesia is not like normal sleep.  If you are laying on a button, for example, you won't move off of it, and might get a pressure sore there.  Even the seams in your clothes can leave dents.

Wisdom tooth extraction is performed by dentists, who also give the anesthesia.  They don't have the same standards we do in the OR.
