  1. cuz when you pour it straight into a cup, it stirs up the beer more, making more foam. When you tilt the cup, the beer FLOWS gently into the cup, thus creating less foam.

  2. so u have less foam

  3. this way, the beer slides down the side of the cup, thus causing less head. if you don't tilt the cup, it will foam up very quickly before you're done pouring.

  4. When you pour your first one like that you'll know

  5. So the foam does not spill over the top.

The same thing is done with sodas.

  6. It helps you to build up the foamy head and also to keep it from becoming too bubbly (and airy). There's a great article on the Guinness pour from those blokes over in Ireland who love their beer!

  7. it doesn't cause so much foam to form and to much foam is bad to some beer drinkers!!!

  8. so the beer pours gently in to the glass... so the foam doesnt spill over the glass.. some foam is desirable..

Hold your glass at a 45° angle. Pour the beer, targeting the middle of the slope of the glass. Don't be afraid to pour hard or add some air between the bottle and glass.

At the half-way point bring the glass at a 90° angle and continue to pour in the middle of the glass. This will induce the perfect foam head. And remember, having a head on a beer is a good thing. It releases the beer’s aromatics and adds to the overall presentation. You may also want to gradually add distance between the bottle and glass as you pour, to also inspire a good head. An ideal head should be 1" to 1-1/2".
