Why do you have your name on rundown hotels

Question

My husband and I had a wedding to go to in Cherry Valley, in Sharon Springs, NY. We rented a room at a Budget Motel. This place was very rundown and inadequate for guests. There was no hot water in the shower, the bed was old, the pain was chipping on the outside, the room was dirty, we were very unhappy. A motel like that with your name representing it does not look good for your company. We have stayed in Budget motels/hotels more than a few times and always have had a nice experience, but after this one we might think twice about using the name.

Maybe it was not a real budget but a sold off one that still had the sign up?m Did you book it online?
