  1. It teaches strategy and forces you to think ahead.  Mancala forces you to anticipate your opponents next move.


  2. um... There's not many that you can use here but Mancala teaches how to use strategy and how to plan ahead. Because if you go one move you have to think where the other person will go otherwise you can be beaten very easily.

I've taught my grandchildren to play.  I think that mancala teaches children to think analytically, helps them learn to plan and develop strategies, helps with mathematical thinking as they have to keep track of the number of stones in each pot and foresee what will happen several moves in advance.  It teaches patience and observation skills.  It certainly helps with basic addition skills.  It offers children a chance to easily see how they can improve with practice, and so helps them learn that working at something pays dividends.  I hope these thoughts help.
