  1. i no right? and im getting 2 points for saying absolutely nothing of meaning to you.

and u could potentially give me 10 pts. for still saying absolutely nothing of meaning to you.

  2. I just  joined this thing yesterday and I was wondering the exact same thing.  Shouldn't they give more points for asking than answering.  Oh yippee I just got 2 points back!

  3. Because it would work even less well without answers.

The point system encourages people to answer questions.  Sure, people can and do just write nonsense answers (I've done that myself many times, especially if I think the question is nonsense <g>), but hopefully they'll give some good answers as well.

  4. Because countless people could endlessly ask stupid questions and the answerers would lose interest. This way, those who do ask stupid questions and do not bother to give a best answer get flushed out of the system fairly quickly.

As fan I can say that my interest lies in the challenge of finding answers off the top of my head and in seeing how others have responded. I can say that I have learned far more than I have taught, and the more answers there are the more I can potentially learn.  Yahoo seems to understand this and encourages response by its point-system.

Good askers get rewards by way of stars, and I've given you one. Some askers are so creative that they almost carry the site on their backs;  but computers being what they are there is no way of recognizing and rewarding them. Fortunately, the creative ones give their fair share of answers too, so they can stay in the game.
