  1. if you fall ill, and end up in a hospital, or if you get caught smuggling drugs back and end up in prison.

and to the idiots who answered first: he means 6 months LEFT on your passport, not a passport that is 6 months old. doh.

  2. I dont think it has to be actually when you book the holiday unless it is one of the late deals where there is only a short time in between booking and going.  You do however need at least one month left on your passport from the date that you return to this Country.  If you are unsure then ask at the travel agents when you book and they will tell you the correct timings

  3. I dont know what that is about, never heard that. I just got my passport 6 months ago. Within 1 month I went to the Bahamas from the US. And 4 months after I went to Mexico with my wife and 2 year old son (all new passports). We had no problem what so ever.

    Oo

  4. Some countries do require that you have at least 6 months left on your passport.  This is to make sure that you can come back again without problems.

  5. Because if you fall ill when on holiday you could possibly go over the expiry date. It's a safety margin

Some countries will refuse to allow you to enter.

  6. nah it depends what country you are going to just got back from zante one of the lads that came only had one month on his as if your travelling too greece you only need to have time on till you return date

ask your travel agent because you donbt need six month for all countries but usually you need it because if for some reason you fall ill over there or end up in prison very unlikely then you need to make sure its valid till you get home.

  7. its incase you end up staying in the country you are visiting longer than intended. illness, arrested, etc.

people seem to be missinterpreting this question, for people who are planning to answer - the question means requiring 6 months until your passport expires.

  8. I don't see how that works, i booked a holiday without having a passport and got it direct from Liverpool 4 days before going!!!!

  9. i dont think so i got my passport in march and left the country in june and they didnt stop me

  10. if you go out of the country you need to have  no less than 6 month left on your passport   or no re entry
