You're obviously safer on the road now... So maybe just like when you're a Provisional you should get covered if you drive with someone with licence for over 5 years??? And you need your own to drive alone.

  1. Because now you have a license to kill people and so these people need to be compensated by you.

  2. You most certainly DID need insurance when driving on a provisional licence, if you were driving with a school, they have a blanket cover which you will be named on during your lesson period.

If you are driving a non-school car you must be listed as a named driver on the owners policy.

  3. your driving instructor has insurance to cover all the people he teaches, now now you have passed you need your own insurance if you have your own car

  4. You are not in control when on a Prov. licence the instructor is,so he is insured.

  5. If you're learning with a registered driving instructor, their insurance covers you. If you're driving in a private car (eg parents etc.) with someone who's held a license for 3+ years and is over 21 then you need insurance to cover you, provisional or passed.

  6. Learner drivers with a provisional licence need at least 3rd party insurance to drive a vehicle. That can be your own insurance or as a named driver on someone else's policy!

It's illegal not to have any. When you are a learner with an instructor, his insurance covers you against accidents!

  7. For auto insurance the quick way to get a very good rate is do a policy comparison on auto policies. Make sure that you pick similar policies with the same limits, car make, zip code, etc so that all things are an accurate comparison.

What I usually recommend is an online comparison quote at http://www.InsureAutoNow.info since they have top name insurers and will give several quotes on car insurance polices.

  8. coz on a provisional you have to be insured by the car owner that your learning in once you pass you need your own insurance.

a driving instructors car is insured for learners to drive, unless your dad is allowed to let a provisional driver drive his car then you can not drive it

  9. Don't know ehere you are from but here in the U.K you firstly don't need to hold a full driving licence for five years it is 2 and a half years and you must be over 21 (used to be 3 years but got reduced a few years ago).

It is the car and not the driver that is insured you can use your insurance to be covered to drive other vehicles such as hire car friends/family cars etc but ussually this has to be set up with prior notice to the relevant insurance company and usually you have to be fully comp to do this.

  10. Your question and comments makes me concerned that you have passed your test.

  11. DeZzy you are diZZy

  12. you need insurance because everyone that drives needs to have insurance, its illegal to drive if you don't have it. just because you can drive by yourself doesn't mean that your safer.... its called an accident for a reason, because you don't intend to do it.

  13. You need valid car insurance whenever you drive a car not just after you pass.  If you are learning with an instructor then they will have the appropriate insurance on their vehicle, if you are learning in someone else's car then you need to ensure that you are properly covered by them.  If you are not and you are caught by the police you will be prosecuted.

  14. u have to have insurance if you are driving a car, even when its just a provisional. you cannot learn how to drive in a car that isnt insured. you need to buy insurance for like a month or how ever long it will take you

  15. You didn't need it at provisional because the car you drove was insured by someone else.

  16. In the UK, It is illegal to drive a car on the road without insurance........ that is regardless of the state of your driving license........... and I guess that would be the case in most countries around the world

  17. While you were learning to drive you were probably under your parents insurance. You can still drive as a named driver under their insurance after you pass the test in their car. If you want to drive your own car you will need your own policy. It's the law!

  18. You answered your own question.

  19. You DID need it on provisional!

If you drive a car, you MUST be insured. Either through the instructors insurance, or named on someones policy, but you do need it.

  20. You do need insurance if you just have a provisional licence!!

  21. now that you have passed your test - you will be out in the car alone more than likely, you are a greater risk to insurers when you are an inexperienced driver rather than when you are a provisional holder as you always had an experienced driver with you then.

  22. Are you on drugs? You have not got a clue what you are talking about!

  23. If you are in UK and driving in your own car on a provisional you need car insurance like anyone else. If you are driving a school car their insurance will cover you. If you are driving a friends car his insurance should cover you subject to the policy. I do not understand where you get the idea that you do not need insurance as a provisional licence holder
