  1. If you don't want to, don't!

    Of course, when the engine blows up, remember you didn't.

    Things wear out, you know.

    It also applies to any other engine. In time they wear.

    Usually the "top end" well before the "bottom end".

  2. because of simple wear and tear. They are so cheap to rebuild there is no reason not to do it often.

  3. Two stroke don't have valves or cam chains. The top end consists of simply the piston and ring. You give it a top end to get your compression back up where it belongs for optim power and of course to keep it from blowing up. Sometimes it just needs a ring. Its not that expensive compared to a 4 stroke top end.

  4. the 2 stroke engines seem to need more maint on valves, gear chains ect. as noted below;

    get a second opinion!!! unless you rode the bike very hard and long, with minimal or no maintenance. if it were a crf250r i might buy it, but a 450x?? i dont think so.

    the "x" model is designed to be more durable than the full race "r" models. seriously get a second opinion
