Why do people think of the consequences of sin after they've sinned? What prevents people sinning? Are there any duas?

  1. Why are you not doubting about God?

  2. The reason why is because shaytaan comes at the time of committing a sin and he pushes and encourages the person to do it. He makes his greatest effort there and assures the potential sinner that he will be with him all the way. As soon as the person commits a sin though, he flees.

Shaytaan can only beautify sins and he has no right to beguile or deceive.

That is why one often feels guilt later and contemplates the consequences of their blunder afterwards.

The fear of Allah prevents people from sinning and also tauba (repentence). It is said in hadith - the best of sinners are those who repent.

It is also said by the scholars that to think of the mercy of Allah before committing a sin is like comforting yourself with an ointment prior to burning yourself.

And this thought will make your minor sin a major sin.

We should try as best as possible to remember Allah and the consequences and punishment of sin before our execution of that sin.

It also helps to do some research into the spiritual harms of the specific sin that you may commit.

    Hope this helps.. : )

My references are mostly speeches i heard from eminent ulama and books i often read.

  3. I don't sin!

  4. I think it is because the two concepts are unrelated for me and are not necessarily related for other people.  A sin is a sin regardless of whether you believe in one or more gods.  Of course whether you consider an act to be a sin depends on your own belief system which may include rules of obedience handed down by a deity you happen to believe in.  To me, that would not be a sin unless it was also a sin independently of the existence of that deity, but I do not believe in any gods.

I think we have to consider sin to be an act that is against the morality of the perpetrator.  Of course, there may be acts the perpetrator finds morally acceptable (and so not sinful) that the rest of society does not find acceptable in which case it might have a legal consequence though I see that as distinct from a moral consequence.

The decision to sin is a calculated trade-off in which the perceived benefit is greater than the likely negative consequence.  If our calculation is correct, we can live with the consequences and tend not to think about them again.  If our calculation is wrong and the consequence turns out to be much greater, then we might well regret the sin.  I may think it is safe to drive too fast in a built-up area but, if as a result, I kill or injure someone, then the act takes on a different perspective.  This is the nature of unforeseen consequences, quite independent of religious belief.

    Good question, thank you.

  5. It's simple. If we were thinking about God, we wouldn't sin at that point.

    Simple as.

  6. Because A LOT of sins aren't sin at all like having s*x and being horny.

Religion is often too restrictive and boring. All they think about is heaven and h**l.

  7. Because you feel guilty after

  8. Think Allah always....

Know he is watching you always....

Allah created us .. he knows all languages.....

You just pray to Allah..... he will answer to you.....

He is near you than your nerves on neck.....

  9. Assalamu Alaikum.

Because you are influenced by Shitain.

I'm not sure about Dua's but will look in my book for you later and update this when I've found one.

  10. i guess its human nature and impluse...

  11. I think that you are influenced by shatain ,but after he's done getting you to do what he wants you to do you start to realize exactly what you did.

  12. It is said: "Commit only so much sins, the punishment of which you can bear and tolerate (because punishment of sins is the rule - and we do not know whether we will be granted royal favours)."

It is stated in a sacred Hadith (Hadith-e Qúdsi) that ALLAH(SWT) has said:

"O son of Adam! Even if your sins reach the brink of the sky and you seek My Forgiveness, I will forgive you." (Mishkát, p. 104)

In Surah The Troops XXXIX : 53, it is said:

"Despair not of the mercy of ALLAH(SWT), who forgiveth all sins, Lo! He is the Forgiving, the Merciful."

With 'taubatun-nasúhá' (firm repentence) from the heart, make a firm and staunch resolve not to commit the same sin again.

Stated in the Majálisu'l-Abrár, the four conditions for repentence:

~First, to repend sincerely over past sins, 'to be sad and sorry over the commission of sins and to wish that one had never done so.'

    ~Second, to renounce sin immediately.

~Third, to resolve firmly never do so again.

~Fourth, to do all these things for the fear of ALLAH(SWT) and not for any thing else. (Majlis 66, p. 383)

    BISMILLAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM.

  13. bullshit

    oops

  14. Ibnul Qayyim mention something: "Don't think of the size of the sin, but think of the greatness of the one you are disobeying"

  15. I don't think about "him or it" before or afterwards

  16. Simple - the belief in sin is a conditioning response to guilt-based criteria set forth by people who thought that it would be  good way to guide humanity into a better social structure.

We follow instinct often without thought, then gain guilt afterwards because we are taught that it is wrong, and give the acion a negative title - sin.  The truth is much simpler, really - being honoest with oneself and others can assuage that guilt and prevent the real sin - denying who you are for the sake of a community led by guidance of the less-knowledgable or manipulative and controlling ancestors.

  17. I'm not sure if there are any duas, but people do sins because they just really want to do this thing, they know that it's a bad thing but Shaitan (saten) keeps on saying to you 'do it, do it, do it'

The person does it and goes d**n i shouldn't have done that!

  18. bcoz we r humans ,  humans r not perfect

  19. Why do people think of consequences of sin after they've sinned?

Because man is weak in resolve, "...And Man was created weak." [Soorah an-Nisaa 4:28]

And we are influenced by satan's whispers easily.

    Wht prevents people sinning?

Knowledge about their Lord who created everything.  Fear 'n love of Him, and hope.  Knowing what He likes and dislikes.  What He ordered, and forbade.

    Are there any duas?

You can read the remembrances of Allah, and seek forgiveness.  Our prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to seek forgiveness and repent to Allah 100 times a day.

And if you still fall in sins, know that the one who prays, and goes out in dealing with people and other matters is better than the one who prays behind closed door for the whole day.  Because the one who goes out also takes care of his duties as Allah ordered, and tries to be an example as set by the prophet.  And when he sins he sincerely turns in repentance.

Allah is The Most Forgiving, who loves to Forgive. And Allah loves those who turn to him in repentance... the fact that they believe in Him, and love Him, and fear Him... and accepts that there is noone else to turn to except Him.

  20. Assalaam-u-alaikum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatahu wa magfiratu,

Dear Sister, It is all connected to the IMAAN or faith of the person on ALLAH. In Surah Baqrah, in the initial verses we are told by ALLAH (SUBHAANAHU WA TA'ALAA) that truly successful are those who have faith in ALLAH and all that is UNSEEN i.e the ANGELS, PARADISE, h**l.. The Accursed IBLEES tries to fool people in this context by suggesting to them in their minds that they will not be punished and that ALLAH forbid, that there is no ALLAH. The real SHAITAAN of MODERN TIMES is RATIONALISM, on the basis of which some people specially in western countries question the existence of ALLAH because they think that anything that  cannot be prooved scientifically, does not exist. We should pray to ALLAH that he give such people TAWFEEQUE or GUIDANCE that they surrender to ALLAH and are saved from the TERRIFYING h**l FIRE.

    ALLAH HAAFIZ
