  1. Zen driving is the way to go if you want to save gas.  So I am driving the speed limit nowadays.

When I did speed it was because I wanted to make time on longer trips.  But it really wasn't worth it to just go 5 or 10 mph over the speed limit.  On an 8 hour road trip you really only save 20 minutes or so.

In town we're talking 2-5 minutes on average saved by racing around vs. just doing what the engineers intended.

Just not worth the gas anymore.

I took a solo trip once from Portland, OR to Butte, MT and I had a nice suped up street rod.  I wanted to Rally and see how fast I could get there.  I decided I would eat the ticket if I got one.  I slowed up in Idaho, but managed to average about 75 mph.  A 12 hour trip took less than 9.  That was for fun.

  2. Myself stick to the speed limit, when i was younger i didn't so much but nowadays i have the kids in the car and there are more police  about and cameras which weren't in use or i never saw any any where i travelled to years ago.

Also now days the cars i have cost me a fortune in Insurance cost so any points would cripple me.

Speeding wise i can save for trackdays.

  3. i travel with the flow of traffic so as not to get run over

  4. I do drive the speed limit. I end up with people tailgating me even if I go five over. But I'd rather get to where I'm going in one piece.

  5. AS George Carlin stated many times, anyone driving slower than me is an idiot, anyone driving faster than me is a maniac.  Why do I drive fast?  Because slow drivers are idiots and I don't want to be around them, so I speed on by.
