Why do you not/totally believe in God?

Some definitions of God are consistent with the observed universe.  Of these definitions, some can be proven scientifically to exist; and others cannot be scientifically proven true or false.

Choosing to believe in a definition of God that is not consistent with the observed universe is a very bad life strategy.

I believe because I've had times where I ask for help from Him and he gives me it. There are experiences in my life where I am helped but it cannot be explained in our world. And if people say there isn't because of all the suffering in this world, the suffering in this world is because of us. He's not going to help us if we just keep it up and if we don't even ask for it. He's also not going to just show himself to people who don't even believe, He wants people to believe in His existence, then he will show himself.

answer: I figure 15 years of giving him a shot was enough.  I got nothing out of the religion but depression, isolation, confusion and no self esteem.  I moved on.

Suffering first of all I think exists independently of God. I believe that humans can make their own paths in life but I also think there is someone/something that watches/sees what happens. I would say I don't totally believe in "God" but instead in a governing force, whether spiritual or scientific, with or without a specific name, but something abstract that it is beyond me to understand it.

religion did to much harm for the word and if God exist, it is no a being, it has no life neither personality, it is maybe time, nature or life.

God doesn't explain anything beyond what can be explained anyway so why bother. Everything that he was invoked to explain has been explained by other theories. The idea of God is redundant, the origin of the god hypothesis can be explained as man made.

The things that we cant explain that you could invoke god for, such as the origin of life, or the universe, only beg the question where did god come from? so why bother, again?

i'm also comfortable with a life that lacks meaning.
