Why do you people hate Roger Federer? What do you have against him?

All his peers and all his fans, they say how a nice, considerate kind hearted and down to earth person he is. I want to know the other side of the story.

Please don’t get nasty because am a great fan of his, I just can’t understand why?

  1. People tend to hate Federer because they think his "greatness" takes away from the sport and makes it "boring" and not exciting to watch because of his dominance on court (which actually hasn't been present so far this year).

But that's just c**p.  Being able to watch Federer even on television is an honor for me. I can learn so much just from watching a few points from him. He is a great player that anyone can pick up on a few things from him.

Also, his level of playing was (maybe still is) quite dominant over other players. But it has brought out a Nadal, a Djokovic... Heck, (Italian Open) even a Wawrinka.  Stepanek and Davedenko (sorry for the spelling mistake) have even "upped" their game.

It's all revolution in the tennis game, and I think its great.

  2. Who are you asking this question of?  "You people" covers just about everyone.  I think you should rephrase your question.  Hmm...I think it would be hard to "hate" someone I never met.  Maybe the question should be, "why is Federer so unpopular with some people?"...there, that's better!

  3. hate is a very strong word. Everyone is not going to like a certain player. Another reason why everyone doesn't like him is because he is on top. When you are on top people want to see you fall- especially when you keep winning like he was. It gets old- it's like the other players were wasting their time.

Thats ok though I'm loving this season so far. Nadal just needs to get it together soon

  4. Hate him? It´s a lot to hate somebody don´t you think? I am not Federer´s fan but i don´t hate him. I don´t even hate someone i know so why should i hate someone i don´t?? :))) And since Djokovic is nr 3 i don´t even dislike Federer that much:)) But still..Rafa is way better than everyone else..for me:P

  5. Obviously you have either never watched a post match press conference after a loss or you have watched with rose colored glasses. Federer will NEVER and I mean NEVER outright compliment his opponent's play when he has lost nor does he outright accept defeat graciously. Any acknowledgment of his opponent's play in defeating him is always a back handed compliment at best and he never accepts defeat based on the merit of his opponent or his poor play on a given day. As far as Federer is concerned, every time he loses there is an excuse. The sun, the noise, the ref, a mysterious illness that is never mentioned until he loses .....on and on it goes. Federer comes off as smug, arrogant, and way too full of himself. None of us are in the locker room and yes, he is regarded as one of the more friendly players on the tour. Got me !!  All I know is that long ago, back when he hadn't won a thing yet, I was a big Federer fan. The bloom came off that rose really quickly. I will say it:  I can't stand the sight of him. I couldn't be more pleased with his results in 2008 so far. Maybe he started believing his own press and thought he walked on water.  Oops, I just heard a resounding splash !!

  6. i love roger... he's my favorite player

  7. I'd have to agree with a lot of what Bleeding Pinstripes has said.  Federer is a very gracious winner but he is a sore loser, most of the time.  His interview after his loss to Djokovic at the Aust Open was a disgrace to his reputation and to the tournament - (talking about not watching the final and not caring about result..)  No one likes to lose, esp when you are No.1 but don't be disrespectful.  I don't hate him though.  i just don't think he's as 'nice' as people may think.

  8. I'm a Roger F. fan so I don't know where this comes from.

  9. I have never heard this!!! He is the best and im assuming they are jealouse of his grreat outstanding talent!!

why would people hate him.. he is a star!!

    - i dont get it either....:S

  10. no one hates him

  11. I have never said I hated Roger. He is a great player and will always be a legend. I don't know why so many people are against Nole but he is a great guy. It is good to have new players in tennis!!

  12. Roger is my second favorite player :-)

  13. i dont hate federer.. but i like nadal!

    this is what i know...

maybe, some people out there are tired seeing federer always no.1 its good to see a new no.1...

its good to see some thrills!

  14. People don't hate Federer, even if they aren't his fans, they respect him.... you should ask about Djokovic, he's the most hated tennis player.

  15. Because he's not Roddick.

  16. Who hates Federer?  We should kick their a$$ because he's a good dude.  He's kind of blah though.  But, it seems like being an even keel person is a good trait to being a tennis god and even keel is boring.   We wanna see people getting crazy out there every now and then.  Mix things up a bit, rile up the crowd, kiss a lady in the stands, crack some jokes...  But, that could make you hated for sure.  But, then people will love you later on for it and you can be a sports commentator when you retire.

  17. Im an obsessive Rafa fan :) lol but also like Roger theres no doubt he`s the best tennis has seen, the achievements he`s had just WOW, in saying that i hope Nadal one day will make #1 because he works sooo hard and his been #2 for soooo long, itd be a terrible shame if that doofus serb Novak took the #2 spot its like what the h**l ? He doesnt deserve it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Vamos Rafa :) ;)
