  1. Because the decisions made by a few (directly/indirectly) can influence my way of life.  I'm deeply concern about politics as usual for our country and her citizens.

  2. I start paying the most attention closer to the election. That's when I'll actually research what the issues are and the candidates standings are on these issues. If there are things that mean a lot to me, like stem cell research or a woman's right to choose, I will look into their feelings on those as well. But that's when I start getting informed so I can vote for who I think will better our country.

  3. Because it affects my Future, and the Future of everyone I know.

If some Congresswoman, who shall go unnamed(Okay Pelosi),keeps our Country from getting access to the Billions of Barrels of Oil we have, thus damaging our Economy and threatening our Future for decades to come, that matters.

If some Senator, who shall go unnamed(Okay Obama),thinks it's okay to Tax the people of the Country into the ground to support some hare-brained Health Plan that will only really benefit Illegal Aliens and Lazy people, that matters.

These people affect the future of our country, many of their current actions affect us for decades. And currently they're destroying this Country. So it's either we all start paying attention, and get these people out,or we all as a Nation pull out the Guns and fight it out again.Which sounds like a better option?

  4. Because a long time ago, I swore an oath to protect the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. That prompted me to find out all I could about what I was defending.

I like the Constitution, and I'd like to have a government that followed the Constitution, especially the 10th Amendment. There's only one major party that understands that individual rights and freedoms cannot coexist with a large and powerful central government.

  5. I used to think it was my responsibility to be well informed before I made a decision. Now, none of that matters.  It is, without question, the most entertaining thing on television.

  6. Its important  for everyone to pay attention.  This is our country and our future that is involved.

  7. Because the horrific policy decisions of the Bush administration have affected all of us personally. I go to sleep at night knowing that our government, paid for by my tax dollars, is torturing people - mostly innocent people caught up in the dragnet of hysteria and propaganda. That this same government has waged an unjust war and destroyed a country and then there is all the destruction we don't even know about like in Somalia. I can barely afford to get to work or feed my family and the schools suck thanks to no child left behind. It should have been named "all children left behind except for the filthy rich". Shall I to on?

  8. Because WE are the Government.

If you don't get involved, you have no say.

  9. I pay attention because I like to know what is going on with our elected government.  Whether I voted for the people or not I want to know  what the truth is.  You will never find the truth if you don't pay attention to the lies.  That goes for both parties.  The only chance for change is if we all pay attention and finally take our country back from all the bureaucracy and make it America again.

  10. I have been trying to figure this out. It does seem like a waste of time since clearly we don't have a choice. Both candidates are not good for real Americans. (middle class) I think Obama is slightly better. I see it more of a have to pay attention so you know what is going on. I prefer to have some knowledge as opposed to be completely clueless. It's in my genes. My family is very interested in politics so it's been around me my entire life. I hear both sides of the political spectrum. I am fortunate to be around seeming well-informed and thoughtful people. There isn't the overbearing arguments. It's more of a debate and discussion of ideas and what is happening. This has encouraged my interest. I think if I was around people that were incapable of seeing another perspective then I would feel differently. It influences me because I try to see alternative points of view as well as what is going around as I see it. I feel like it keeps me young and energized because I have to continue thinking and processing information. It feels like mental exercise. But I do wonder if it's just a waste of time and my time could be spent better. I feel it's a duty though.

edit: I care about this country and the future. I think that's why I feel so frustrated because we seem to be spiraling downward. What to do? A lot of it is out of our hands.

  11. The reason is when a society is complacent or apathetic, that is when the fringe groups gain power. The Roman Empire fell because they handed to much power to the Barbarians and didn't release the threat until it was to late. The same can be said for the current day neo-conservatives as destroying the integrity and future of the United States.

  12. Because I want Obama to lose. He will destroy this country and hand it to our enemies.

  13. I like to argue or that is what people who know me say.  I believe they are correct.

  14. Because someone has to keep an eye on them, or they will steal EVERYTHING.

  15. Because it's important to know what is going on in our country and who will be controlling it.

  16. Because I love America and don't want to see it destroyed.

  17. It effects my pocket.

  18. Because I like politics.  I like the strategy, the method, and especially the process, where free citizens pick who they want to lead them for 4 years.

  19. I run the numbers. Politics moves in cycles - liberal 60s, conservative 80s, and back... every new leader stands for "change" - but the numbers show you the true state of the country.

    Bush's tenure:

    - Homelessness down 30% between 2005-2007

    - Aid to Africa up from $1.4B in 2001 to $4B in 2006.

    - Prisoners held without due process at Guantanamo: unknown!!!!!

    Which numbers matter to you...

  20. Because I want to know what kind of a world to prepare my twin daughters for.  I want to know how the next 4 to 8 years is going to be so that I can plan for their futures accordingly.  Will I be able to save for the college AND my retirement?  Or will liberals tell me that I make too much money and that I need to start paying my fair share (on top of the tens of thousands I already pay each year).

  21. Someone has to mind to the liberal crazies.

  22.   I hate politics the only race I even bother with is the presidential campaign.  And sometimes both candidates are so bad I won't even vote for president . ... This time around , things are really bad after 8 years of bush . So , I will be voting for the lesser of 2 evils ... We need peace not war .

  23. So hopefully your grand kids will still have the right to make choices about thier life and livelihood.
