With the possible exception of mentally challenged (that includes the smart ones too), we all do it. So, what's your reason?

  1. I sometimes play dumb because it seems to make me more likable.  When I don't simplify my ideas, dial down my vocabulary or turn a blind eye to errors, people find me annoying.

  2. Well, sometimes you just get tired of being "good" all the time.  Playing stupid lets off a little steam and keeps me from getting so stressed out.

  3. I love playing stupid. As well as exposing my weaknesses. In doing both I am showing my strength. And it is so much fun downplaying myself, knowing what I have in reserve. I never play my best cards. Least not until someone really knows me and I fully trust them.

Mentally challenged?  Very rare. People classified like that can often surprise you. Everyone ends up having their own niche'.

I need to add "I am a self gratifying, egotistical, narcissist as well. So the stupid bit helps me work on these problems.  Gee, if I can't cut myself down at the knees sometimes life ywould be so boring.  And somewhere along the line I am always hopeful they won't perceive me as stupid as I might want to appear.

  4. Attention, make people laugh, make others look smart. Just minor stuff.

  5. to get attention.

  6. To get out of a ticket.

  7. You mean people play stupid?

  8. Shyness? Needyness? Ego repetative rubbish for dealing with it?

To try and seem something your not to fit your strategy?
