The only women so far I've ever seen coach a boy's team is my health teacher. She coached boy's varsity track at our school. Of course she is the bomb. Other than that, I don't see it that often, but I do see plenty of female teams coached by males.

  1. In the past, fewer women were involved in athletics, whereas in the modern era, there are many females involved in athletics as this a healthy thing for young women.  As more women become actively engaged in athletics, there will invariably be more female coaches for various sports.

American football is an extremely uncommon sport for females to participate in, so it's only natural that there's not many women who have had experience playing American Football and for this reason, they may not have interest in coaching in a form of athleticism which they don't wish to.

    There's no conspiracy going on.

  2. Well, the staus of male-dominated sports (football/rugby) is HUGE.

The status of female-dominated sports (netball/ballet/gymnastics) is almost non-existent.

Men treat sports like big business and hold all the top jobs. Male dominated sports (as above) have (predictably) male coaches. Female-dominated sports have a mixture, although still mostly males - especially in cases where the coach gets paid.

If they were to force gender equality in sport (same air time on TV for both female and male sports; same pay for athletes etc) then judging from what's happened in other industries, the pay would go down and sport would lose status...

  3. why hate? why hate on the men who coach? dont be a hater. i dont like that. u budding feminist you!

  4. It's mainly because of preferences i think.

Like its easier for teens to get along with a teen or with a male.

Also, coaches do stuff like talking to them in the changing room.

So, its more comfortable for teen guys to have a male coach i guess.

  5. I think the answer here is pretty obvious.

  6. Women coaches here:

There are bound to be others.

  7. The truth is self evident.

  8. Pat Riley is a famous basketball coach.

  9. Well, women are really just starting to get out there and play sports, and people are just starting to take them seriously.  Wait a few more years, there will be female coaches.

    Edit

clvr1001: I can beat most of the guys in my class at rugby.  Football, not so much, but we all have our talents.  Ballet takes muscles and is not a "woman" sport at all.  Same with gymnastics.  I'll tell you, their muscles are a lot more fit than any footbal player's.
