see humans as food? Sharks weigh about 1,400 lbs maybe more? Rows, and rows of razor sharp teeth. They're not as dumb as people think. Keep thinking that! They know exactly what they're doing! ( ^ _ ^ )

If I were a hungry shark, and I saw you in the water? I wouldn't think twice about swimming to your location and taking a bite of you, just to find out what you taste like. ( ^ _ ^ )

I think sharks can distinguish between people and sea creatures. They just want to diversify their diets! : )

  1. I kinda agree. I don't buy that they are confusing you with a seal. People try to make them seem so Innocent. "Oh, don't worry it didn't mean to tear a chunk of you leg up! It didn't know any better and I'm sure he felt awful sorry once it realizes your weren't a seal." They are pretty intelligent. I think they see something pretty big that seems edible. They know it's not a seal but it's still there and moving. So, of course they go up take a bite or two, thats what they do, but they realize we're just bony and don't have too much meat on us. If we were bigger, less bony, and tasted more like what they eat, they wouldn't stop at that first nibble or two and wouldn't think twice about just eating us up. That said, fearing sharks is still completely irrational. They almost never attack people and the risk is very low. Just think about the millions who go to beaches every single day, and only a few dozen at most get attacked every year in the US.

  2. Ever seen a fish strike at a piece of trash floating in the water?

It is not a question of how sharp the teeth are, or how big they are, or how sharp their sense of smell is, or even how intelligent they are.

They see something swimming at the surface, they strike at it to check it out, it is instinct.  If it turns out to not be food, they spit it out, as in the case with almost all shark attacks on people.
