I don't think its a hoax, and most people in the United States do not either. 5 corporations control over 95% of all US media. Guess what? They rely on corporate advertising to pay their bills. They tell us what the Government and Corporations want us to. Global Warming has become a major inconvinience to commerce so go figure.

As for people on here that say its a hoax? Besides the outright attempt by the media itself, (see my link), would you believe there are people that are hired to go after all blogs and open forums on the internet to counter the fact that  Global Warming exists? They are PAID FOR THIS. IT IS THEIR JOB TO DO THIS. My friends, I'm really not trying to be over the top. I'm a normal guy with a family working a regular job. I just woke up about this and really starting paying attention.

I don't think GW is a hoax.  I think GW being (1) mostly caused by humans, and (2) within human control is a hoax.

It takes a lot of *FAITH* to believe that something that's been around  4.5 billion years is fragile enough that we could knock it out of whack.

However, it is instructive of human nature to watch madmen (from a distance).

It's not a hoax, it is a natural event that cycles. We are coming out of an Ice Age.

I don't think making me afraid is a reason for moving to cleaner energy. I think it is a political move from an increasingly fanatical environmentalist movement.

I am concerned for the planet. I think we should use clean and cheaper energy sources so that we are not dependent on other, not so friendly nations.

The issue of whether or not the Earth is warming isn't in question by the majority of skeptics.  Most believe it IS warming...and it's natural.  Most, including myself, believe the cause is that great big ball of fire in the sky.  That being said, you may wish to check your facts, and stop parroting silly media articles.  

There's more ice today than there was this time last year.

I LIVE in hurricane alley.  The storms have been mild and infrequent as of late.  

This year has set record lows around the globe.  It snowed in the Middle East if you care to recall.  China had one of the coldest winters in over a century.

Yet, even if everything you mentioned were true, it is not evidence MAN is responsible for it.  You ask what would convince me....show me an independently verifiable experiment or calculation that demonstrates trace amounts of CO2 can measurably alter ambient temperature due to its unique IR absorption qualities.  Fair enough?

There were fewer hurricanes for the past two years than predicted.

A 50-50 change that the ice will melt into chunks in that Arctic means there's a 50-50 chance it will not.

A .5 degree C change in temperature in the Antarctic still means its an a$$ freezing cold -70F average yearly temp.

I'm no physics major or anything, however, ice won't melt real fast at -70F.

Its a hoax on a major scale.

it is a hoax. there has been more snow in this year than there has been since 1966 in north america, siberia, mongolia, and china. and yeah glaciers are melting and making the sea level rise but every year at least 8 inches of the glaciers are melting. but the warmest years in the arctic were in the 1940s and the temperature now hasn't been as warm as it was then.

and the temperature is not getting warmer. the record high temperatures in the us were in between the years 1896-1965. so there's my evidence.

Most people believe it is a hoax because of their political views.  Some people recognize that the earth is warming and this could change the climate, but think it is mainly due to natural factors.  Some people think the Earth is warming and both natural and anthropogenic factors are to cause, but think that ecosystems will not respond in a way detrimental to human well-being.  

A majority of people (I believe) believe it is a problem with both natural and human causes, and that the potential impacts to human well being. Are we starting to see impacts now with droughts in the US South, flooding in the Mid-West, severe ice storms over the winter, unseasonable warm  when it should be cold and heavy, wet snowfall when the snowfall is typically lighter - all weather and can't be directly attributed to climate change, but very consistent with predictions.  Arctic ice may COMPLETELY melt this summer (never happened in human history as far as we can sell, and the Antarctic has a record amount of open water and snowfall (rarely snow down there and it stay "forever " relative to a human lifetime).  Could it be that the warmer air has more water causing more precipitation?

While I don't disagree that the earth's ecosystems may adjust just fine and not cause a lot of harm to human well-being, I just think taking measures to control the anthropogenic portion of warming to slow change down as much as possible is the only common sense thing to to to minimize our cost and maximize human well-being.
