  1. I think we return to the Gettysburg Address because it emphasized the healing of the country and working towards the ideals represented in the Declaration of Independence.  The words were simple, plainspoken and concise.  Instead of laying blame about slavery, Lincoln spoke about equality.  The Gettysburg Address is an important interpretation of the Declaration of Independence.
