Question:

Why do you think Madeleine's Mum, Kate, did not answer 48 questions of the 200 put to her?

Even the most vitrolic of her attackers admit that she started out answering every question but stopped when she was made a suspect.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1041635/The-48-questions-Kate-McCann-wouldnt-answer--did.html

Heres what i think:

Madeleine's Mum, Kate's precise answer to the Q why she does not answer the 48 questions, answers it all.

IF the investigation thinks, WRONGLY, that she had harmed her child & was doing all it could to push the investigation down that path, the best thing she could do for her Madeleine was to jeopardise such an investigation, by not answering such questions. It makes perfect sense. For if, such an investigation succeeded, by twisting & misinterpreting her replies to those 48 rhetorical questions, in doing what it set out to do - to find Kate & Gerry guilty of harming their Madeleine, they would have been charged & arrested by now. And who then would search for their Madeleine???

With the gullible public believing that Madeleine is no more, murdered by her parents who the court has found guilty, the case would be closed & she would be deemed as no more. Of what good would Kate be to her Madeleine then???

Kate McCann did the right thing. At risk to her reputation but for the love of her child.

Think about it people. Think laterally. What would YOU do, if God forbid, you were in her place??

If you knew you were innocent of harming your child but if the investigating authorities were bent on accusing & charging you. They had already issued her a deal to admit that she had accidently harmed Madeleine, so she knew fully well where they were coming from. Imagine the choice she had to make...in a foreign country, her mind a traumatic mess filled with thoughts of her beloved missing child, faced with accusations that she harmed that child, then faced with a deal to confess to a crime she did not commit... the foremost thought in her mind would have been that these people are wasting time, precious time, barking up the wrong tree, when they could be searching for Madeleine. Naturally she would want to stop them in their tracks... especially since they are on the wrong track. Anyone would. Wouldn't you???

As much as it is the right thing to do, to co-operate with the authorities, when you know in your heart & soul, that the investigation is misguided, no sane person, in search of justice, would help such an investigation...especially when one's own child's life is at stake.

Which explains why Madeleine's Mum, Kate McCann rightly refused to answer those 48 questions, not just to prevent a miscarriage of justice against herself but also to set the investigation on its right path...to find her missing Madeleine.

  1. SteveF is spot on! My sentiments exactly

  2. in any police enquiry,or interview, your told it could harm your defence if you dont say something you later rely on,usually they are told not to say anything at all,so i myself would of been suspicious,as like you say she answered some but not all, maybe she thought, they the police were accusing her,we dont know what type of questions were put to her,she will of been upset, etc, but i know if it was my child, and i was innocent,i would answer every single question, all the same, every time they asked me,and its been proven that over the years,in high profile cases, they have got it wrong, and miscarriage of justice has occured.so what i cant understand, why go so far but not all the way,if you knew you werre innocent, knowing also,by doing so,it would harm you,i dont wish to get involved in this whole debate as its been going on now for far to long, the only person in all of this is no longer here, and thats shocking.whatever happens i hope one day that the truth will set madeline free.

  3. Have to say this, on any programme I have seen about the police ever and interviews they ask you ten questions only and the rest are just versions of them ten to trip a person up really. So not answering 48 questions may be down to been fed up with been asked with slightly different wording something you have answered twenty times.

  4. honestly faith kate didn't answer the questions because she didn't want to trip over her own lies

how you can defend these people and be so uncaring about a small child is sickening

madeline is missing you cant blame everybody and his dog for this happening it wad the parents duty to care for their own children

talking of dogs what do you think of the blood found in the apartment faith

  5. Police always, ALWAYS investigate the people closest to the one that is either dead or missing.  It helps to clarify the investigation.  Why should everyone just take the McCanns word for their explanation of events? No one else has that right.  There is a lot of suspicion around the parents and friends of the McCanns that night, none of them could give a straightforward account of what happened.  Of course they should all be questioned and they should reply openly and honestly, maybe then, the police might have some clue as to what happened to Madeleine.

One of the questions was "did Kate ring sky news before the police?"  Why shouldn't she answer that and if she did ring sky news, why?  I think the majority of people would be curious to know about the reasons for her odd behaviour.

  6. You write as if you are personally connected to this family.I think you are just ranting on about nothing.

As far as the question. Why she did not answer the 48 questions.

You tell me. She has all of a sudden found her tongue in the interviews I have seen lately. Gerry hasn`t been able to get a word in.

Her mother stated she sees Madeline at night and cant sleep.

    So would I,So would I.

How could a mother leave her three children all alone to go out with her friends drinking. DISGUSTING

  7. There are only 2  questions that need to be asked,  -

    1. 'Why were they stupid enough to leave the children alone in the first place'!?

    2. If the so called 'friend' saw a stranger with what looked like Maddy, why didn't she say something immediately!?

  8. kate was subjected to a gruelling 11 hour interrogation. some of the questions were answered. other questions were insulting.  how would anyone feel if they were asked if they had anytning to do with their   childs disappearance. very upset i think . i dont blame her at all for refusing to answer these questions. they were not helping the police find madeleine.

  9. Just curious, what's it to you? You seem to post a lot of comments defending them. Are you a friend of theirs?

I don't think she was wrong to not answer to questions. If I was a suspect in a murder investigation, I wouldn't answer either.

I think the most likely explanation is her mother accidentally killed her, probably with a drug overdose. I think the same thing happened to poor Caylee Anthony. Their moms accidentally killed them and they went beserk. Seems like the most likely explanation. I believe Caylee's mom claimed an "abductor" took her child as well, except that no one believes her!

  10. she doesnt want to go to prison

  11. It's all been a complete shambles from the very beginning.

I believe Madeline died in a tragic accident while in the hotel and while under the influence of a sedative to get her off to sleep.

Maybe she fell while drowsy and upset when being alone in a strange place. (Hence the blood stains) and cuddle cat not gone.

Gerry found her dead during his hourly checks while at the Tapas.

He had his friend (The one not at the Tapas nursing his ill child) help dispose of the body and clean the appartment.

    Then last check by Kate.

Hay-presto Mad is missing and her tears are real infront of the crowds.

The story of cover up begins.

That's why they refuse to answer questions to incriminate themselves of child neglect, cruelty etc etc.

  12. you are ranting, not posting a question, and your logic is completely twisted, you are clutching at the most desperate of straws

  13. Whether a person is a suspect or not it doesn't alter the fact that if they are innocent they will find it easy to answer the Q's, The reason why she refused to answer the 48 Q was that she running scared and she also didn't know how Gerry would answer the Qs .So it was better for her to remain silent and not drop them both in it .

    EDDIE AND KEELA DON'T LIE

    I agree 100% with Seven

  14. My answer is simple, I would never have been in her place. I never left my children unattended like that. The only person my sympathy lies with is Maddie. Unless she is found nobody will ever know the whole truth

  15. Because she was afraid that if she did, she could say something she would regret, like a clue to find her daughter and definitely implicate her and her husband in the girl's death.

  16. its all the police fault. they should check if the window is easily accessible and check the bloody CCTV in the hotel. and you should stop having suspicions because its useless.

  17. I think she felt she was about to be set up. Just like Joana Ciprano's mother by the same investigating officer.

It astounds me that these questions were asked FIVE months after poor Madeleine disappeared. Also I find it ridiculous that the police have used the Twins as their pawns. How can 2 babies under 2 say what happened? It would be laughed at. Kate could have said, yes I asked them , and they said a big man took Maddie - that would have been laughed at and ridiculed. She can't win on that front.

I think Kate felt utterly insulted at these type of questions & sly insinuations.

Why have they left out the vital question "if you admit now to killing your daughter we can help you get a reduced sentence"

They knew that the Hotel Manager - John Hall had said he'd call the Police. Why did they ask her that again? Is John Hall also considered an uncredible witness by the PJs?

Its utterly disgusting how the PJs have run this case and for the sake of Madeleine McCann, somebody needs to pull their finger out and get to the bottom of it. The poor child she doesn't deserve all this. She deserves to be found. Dead or Alive.

  18. Innocent people help the police with their inquiries. Guilty people don't.

Caring mothers help the police with their inquiries. Guilty mothers don't.

  19. Well, maybe I'm naive, but if it happened to me and I was innocent I would answer every single question put to me, openly and honestly, over and over again.  Who knows, maybe somewhere in my answers there would be a clue as to what happened to my child, maybe someone I'd known in the past would be recognised by the PJ, maybe I'd seen something I didn't realise was significant.  Stranger things have happened.   I know that in the vast majority of missing children a family member or close friend is to blame.  I would answer every single question because I know that until I have been eliminated they will just keep on down the same track.  And yes, while they are concentrating on me they are wasting time which could be spent looking for my child.

I would realise that the more questions I refuse to answer then the guiltier I would look.   The more I refused to co-operate then the more they would think I was hiding something. And the more convinced they would become of my guilt and the LESS likely they would continue to look for other suspects or even for my child.

You stated  ""Kate McCann rightly refused to answer those 48 questions, not just to prevent a miscarriage of justice against herself but also to set the investigation on its right path...to find her missing Madeleine"".  If she was innocent and genuinely wanted her daughter found, then that is the worst thing she could have done because it makes her look as if she had something to hide, which means the PJ were even MORE convinced of her guilt.

The only reason she had for refusing to answer their questions was that she was scared of letting something slip, scared of incriminating herself and scared that she might accidentally give them that one piece of the jigsaw that would lead them to the truth.

  20. Why indeed? There are always two sides to a story and what if the investigation thinks 'RIGHTLY' that she is guilty of a heinous crime? When all the facts are considered there leaves little doubt as to why they regarded her as highly suspicious and what is question 41 about? I don't believe the child is alive and I believe Kate knows all the answers. There was nothing difficult about any on them and I wouldn’t hesitate to do all and everything for my daughter. Even trying to imagine anything like that makes me ill. So really you have to consider firstly if Madeleine is alive or not and the motives behind Kate's refusal to help. The whole world knows about Madeleine and no one would miss her if she was spotted. This case has been unprecedented from the very beginning and there is a lot more involved than will ever be revealed. It is sinister and sickening to say the least and as far as I am concerned Kate is guilty as sin and is fully responsible for the demise of that poor child. And for this very reason that is why I want justice for Madeline not her uncaring and neglectful parents.

  21. How do you think police find a killer in any murder or missing child case, its not by being nice they aren't questioning Kate over her car been uninsured.

There is a little girl missing and tough questions have to be asked in these circumstances, if they didnt do this you would be thinking are they taking this serious.

And for those to say the questions were repeated thats called  "cross examination"another text book procedure in such circumstances.

I don't pretend to be the brightest person on here but even i know this is routine, and if you had nothing to hide you'd simply answer. I find it naive to think otherwise :)

  22. Because she didn't have to answer ANY of the 200 questions put to her.

What I would like to know is why she did answer 152 of the 200 questions!

Thankfully, we still have the right to silence.

Question: Will the common or garden Nosey Parker ever become extinct?

  23. Faith thats a long long question. but yes you are right She did have the right to remain silent as she had already been made a suspect.Any of those question could have been misconserued and had she been arrested together with Gerry it would have been impossible to help find their daughter behind prison bars. I would have done exactly the same and I can tell you I do love my 3 children very much

  24. Files from the Portuguese police investigation into Madeleine McCann's disappearance have helped her parents to "draw strength" because of the lack of any evidence that their daughter is dead, the family spokesman said.

Gerry and Kate McCann's spokesman Clarence Mitchell said the newly-released files have revealed no evidence suggesting Madeleine had been killed or even harmed in the 15 months since she went missing on a family holiday in Portugal.

"The longer it goes on, they actually draw strength from that," he told the BBC. "They hope against hope she is being held somewhere."

Fresh revelations from the Portuguese police files are expected. Documents made public from the exhaustive inquiry have already revealed that detectives claimed the young girl's DNA had been found in her parents' hire car, despite a British scientist's warning days earlier that tests were inconclusive.

A family friend accused Portuguese officers of trying to extract a confession from Madeleine's father, Gerry McCann, by lying about the results of forensic analysis.

The Portuguese authorities released the police files on Monday after lifting the period of judicial secrecy in the case. Journalists were handed DVDs containing copies of thousands of pages of evidence from the case outside the court in the Algarve town of Portimao.

The dossier includes details of the lines of inquiry pursued by detectives, forensic reports, pictures of the bedroom where Madeleine was sleeping before she disappeared, witness statements and transcripts of interviews with Mr McCann and his wife Kate.

Lawyers for the McCanns, both 40, from Rothley, Leicestershire, were formally given access to the police files last week.

They are studying them for fresh leads that the couple's private detectives can follow up in their own search for their daughter.

The McCanns are keen not to give "a running commentary" on their legal team's trawl through the dossier, Mr Mitchell said. He said the priority was finding leads which could help to find Madeleine but told the BBC the team would be considering if there had been any "incompetency or anything worse" during the police investigation.

  25. madeleine is never gunna be found end of story .

    we shuld now move on

  26. Kate started answering the questions because she wanted them to have as much info as poss to aid the hunt for her daughter.

When it became apparent that they thought she was responsible she stopped.Had she let them go down that track she knew the hunt would have been sent in completely the wrong direction. It's that simple.

She was told by not answering it would incriminate her but given the choice between jeapordising the search and incriminating herself any parent would have made the same choice.

The Portugese lied about the blood in the car. These two people knew they didn't do anything.Hearing this lie must heve sent alarm bells off that they were being set up and the hunt for Madeleine would end.

    Totally agree with you.

There were people in the testing lab who's DNA could have matched similarly. They should never have released that lie to the media and hung the McCanns in the public's eye.The McCanns should sue them.
