I don't know, but that is a good question. Maybe it is like they say easy to draw and cost of production. I still thinks there is more to this.

Two thoughts on that.  A) because ... back in the day, wearing white gloves was an indicator that one had been raised in a higher "class".  It was the animator's way of snubbing the "higher class" society, which most viewers never clued in to.  B) (and my own personal opinion) is because to have taken the time to draw even semi-anatomically-correct versions of their "hands" required too much time.  Got to think about production costs, don't cha know.
