  1. There's a spell check button right above the box where you write your questions and answers.  It's about personal responsibility to take the effort to click a button.

Personally I think it's incredibly telling if a person couldn't take the time to hit spell check or has very poor grammar.

  2. It isn't just about the grammar.  It is the existence of ridiculous questions that are asked with poor grammar.  I see it most commonly in this category.  "Whut do u tink ebout Obama bein da 1 who aktualee attakt da world trade senter?"

Things like that are ridiculous to ask, and when done with poor grammar, it is just much more fun to insult them, than to aknowledge the ridiculousness of the post.  There are some however, that are taken too far, and people are just posting for the points.

  3. Indeed. Why do people who want to communicate on a public forum like Y/A not use spell check and think that it is OK? Is ignorance that bliss? Or are we just too lazy to check our work?

  4. Because the English language is a truly beautiful thing when used properly.

It is made very ugly when all botched up...

...and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to learn how to click on "Check Spelling."

    .

  5. First off, 'What" not "Why."  It's "correcting your grammar" and "dodging."  I don't use spell check.  And I am not answering your question.

  6. Don't take it personally, they are just trying to help you. Even the spelling of your name is wrong. It should be Samuel not Samual

  7. you want a golden star?  not happening, your grammar is atrocious.

  8. I think its because they find joy in correcting other people. Perhaps gives them a false sense of power? If only used their brains to realize that Y!A is an informal style communicating and grammar/spelling aren't required to be Yale perfect. Some may use spell check, others may not...I think overall people just like to get heard, even if it means sounding like a smart butt =]

  9. i asked this exact same question

I think that this is the LOWEST form of insult, and on a place like y/a does grammer reallly matter?

  10. Perhaps the question was ineloquently and or inarticulately posed.

Being incomprehensible in one's own mother tongue is indeed rather less than forgivable, old chap.

  11. u wat man, there sum piple who think are smart only to see dat they are so.......i think if someone cant read nor write shorthand then they are nit smarter as they think, writing is not lyk speaking, i mean spoken english is not lyk written english, they just wanna make fun of u whereas they understood wat u r saying so dats stu...answer the questions fellas and 4get bout other's "gramma" no one ever consider that, we want opinions and not "gramma" piple.... wasup!

  12. It really depends on the grammatical error. If it is obvious laziness on the part of the person asking the question, I won't correct the grammar- but I do shake my head and ask myself why some people like to sound so uneducated.

If the error is just something little, and the person giving the answer is a jerk-- then they should really find something better to do than hang out all day on their computer anyways.

  13. They are picked on in real life. Then they turn to the internet to continue the cycle onto someone else.

  14. No, it's called 'constructive critisism', you should be thankful you are learning something new, and someone has taken the time to point it out to you. You can take it how you want!

Only a mature confident person would say, 'Oh, so that's how I spell it'!

Well, I would anyway.... some may just be being pedantic...

I think they dodge answering your question because they find it stupid and can't be bothered answering it, or can't get over your grammar. Some people are like that... :)    I've never seen your questions and am answering this as a random....

I must be stupid, I don't even know where the spellcheck is!

    Don't be so paranoid!!!!

  15. i dont know. it annoys me too

  16. exactally. im nt in skool so i will worry but tat l8r. i am a straight A student so its not lik i am stupid. I also got into a high rated academic school so back off.

  17. Why not just use proper grammar, and then people will respond to your question instead of your apparent lack of intelligence.
