any ideas on why california has such a high suicide rate?

more fierce competition, expensive cost of living and large Asian community, Asians tend to have higher suicide rate than any other ethinc group, especially East Asians.

i think that in general californians do not have enough adversity in their lives so they do not learn a wide variety of coping skills.  this lack of adversity also leads to fewer deep connections with others.  friendships are not deepened by shared times of trouble and loss and therefore tend to be superficial.  i think all this also explains their lack of a sense of humor. there is a reason that the best comics come from chicago and canada - living through horrific winters and muggy mosquito filled summers mean you either develop a sense of humor or sink into the abyss.

cause kids dream bout being hollywood stars so the run away from home to holleywood, where they get rejected and cant handle the stress so they cut their wrists.
