Why do you think groups become cliquish?

Or develop a kind of "in-group" within the group that excludes or marginalizes anyone who is not in the "in-group" or clique? Do you think this is to be expected due to natural affinities or likenesses? Do you think the people on the margins should speak up or let things be?

  1. The same way that cults get started,

    First there must be a leader who sets down the rules. That leader looks for followers who will believe the same basic things that you do. They look down on any one who is different than them.
