Why do you think it is that...?

so many people that obviously know the answer to the "relationship" question they are asking, ask it anyways?

I think it's because they are seeking approval from people, but I personally never have done this so I find it hard to understand, can anyone clue me in?

I'd say it would be a lack of self confidence and a fear of the truth.

I've asked relationship questions before.I was looking for assurance and different opinions.Sometimes friends and family answer the same thing all the time.So wanted to hear different perspective

yeah, probably to seek approval, or assurance
