Why do you think . . .?

Why do you think that swimming is such an unpopular sport. I mean its way more fun than other sports, and its works all muscles in your body? Just curious.

it's unpopular because it takes work and dedication and full complete commitment.  Swimming also costs a lot of money so not everyone can afford it.

It is because as kids, people usually choose many sports. They pick up swimming for fun. Later on, they decide to drop the swimming in favor of more favorite sports such as basketball, baseball, and soccer.

i think swimming is an excellent sport, but, it gets too tiring for people and some people dont like to get all wet and cold all the time. some people are embarrased to show that they can swim. also, swimming isnt really shown on TV and its not really a TV sport and a lot of people likeTV sports because all they have ot do is sit back and relax while watching soccer, softball, baseball, or football.

You can't always do swimming year round so that might make it less popular and people have their own oppinion (sorry about spelling). I personaly love swimming but I love track more.

people just dont think of it as a sport, they think of it as a summertime leisurely(sorry about the spelling) activity

IDK sometimes i feel that way 2... i guess it's just that it's not exciting enuff 4 other viewers. i mean, who wants 2 watch 8 ppl swimming the 200 IM? just saying... but I definitely DONT feel that way! swimming rocks!!! =]

oh yeah... and i TOTALLY agree w/ the girl above cuz I SWIM ALL YEAR ROUND BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that's how much i luv swimming!!!!!! =]

I don't think its that unpopular. I love swimming it's fun and it's great exercise. Maybe some people don't really like it because it's harder to learn swimming than some other sports. And to the girl above who said you can't do swimming year around, your wrong there are teams that swim all year long, indoors.
