  1. Depression... It can be horrifying. It makes a person feel as if there is no reason, no purpose. That there is no help, and you do not have the desire to even try, you feel hopeless. You have no interest in anything.

You just want it all to end...  I came to a point that I could have taken my life, I was relieved at the thought of it finally being over. To make matters worse sometimes there are other factors alcoholism& drugs...

I have recovered from Depression. Thank God! Life is Good. It was very frightening.

  2. Idk...my life is about as hopeless as it can get and has been that way all of my life and i am not in the least bit suicidal.

    equalizer,

Jobs are being outsourced to China and many people are in the same boat as you so it is not you.  Don't give up hope.  I believe something will work out for you.  Your in my prayers.

  3. depression desperation lacking the desire to continue on no support system take your choice

  4. People get frustrated and have no hope left in their lives so they commit suicide.

They should be optimistic and avoid negative feelings

  5. I think most people that kill themselves, incapable of finding an alternate solution to a tremendous problem. Next are the morons that have committed some kind of crime and don't want to spend the rest of their sorry lives in prison. Then there are the terminally ill, that who could blame them if they are in severe pain. Then you get to the idiots that should get out of the way. As for the suicide bombers in the Middle East........they're just scum that think they are doing a great thing. A bunch of dumb ***, rag-headed......I better stop now before the Yahoo folks come down on me.

  6. Some people think that committing suicide is a permanent end to all they're problems that they think are unbearable..

  7. Durkheim used official statistics to carry out a study into suicide. He found that people who are not integrated into the society that they live in are more likely to kill themselves. He stated that there are four types of suicide.

    Egoistic suicides

This is where people kill themselves for their own individual interest. This usually occurs in societies where social bonds are weak with a low level of social integration due to emphasis put onto individual rights, welfare and interests. You could say that this society has the norms and values to think of themselves, causing them to be more individual rather than coming together as a society. These people are often encouraged (for example, by their religions) to make their own decisions and therefore accept the consequences. This may mean that other people of the society see it as acceptable that a person has killed themselves due to failure or unhappiness. To conclude this type of suicide is caused by a low amount of social integration and could lead to a high suicide rate in that society.

    Altruistic suicides

This occurs in societies that sees the individual needs as less important than the societies as a whole. As individual interest was not important, Durkheim stated that in an altruistic society there would be little reason for people to commit suicide. He stated one exception; if the individual is expected to kill themselves on behalf of the society. An example of this rare type of suicide would be suicide bombers who are willing to take their lives for their religions and Hindu widows throwing themselves on their husbands' funeral pyres.

    Anomic suicides

For this type of suicide, Durkheim pointed out that people are naturally selfish and put their own needs and interests first. He said that there is a framework of 'acceptable behaviour' within a society and if this framework is weakened then people will revert to their natural selfishness. These restraints are usually weakened by social change so Durkheim linked social change with the rate of suicide.

    Fatalistic suicides

This type of suicide seems to occur in overly oppressive societies, causing people to prefer to die than to carry on living within this society. This is an extremely rare reason for people to take their own lives, but a good example would be within a prison; people prefer to die than live in a prison with constant abuse.

  8. just unbearable pain, hopelessness, feeling unloved

  9. I think most people who commit suicide feel as though there is no other way to escape their problems and that their life is horrible and unbearable.  In industrial societies, people have more, and more to lose.  Some people can not cope with loss.

  10. Well, I have set a time frame for myself wherein if I can't turn my current situation around, I plan to commit suicide by sealing myself in my car with a small charcoal grill (CO2 poisoning).

I lost my job and can't find a new one. If my savings run out I will be homeless. I cannot stomach that thought because I worked very hard to over come many difficulties to get to where I was before now.

I am all alone and can't cope with the idea of being a bum.  It comes down to death being my only option, even though the thought of ending my life sickens and repulses me, but not as much as existing on the violent streets where people will judge me to be a piece of garbage.

I hope this helps give you some perspective to your inquiry.

  11. One is alienation. In the environment of a small town or village everyone knows everybody else (this is comfy to a certain extent but is a PIA in the other). In big cities you are just flotsam and jetsam in the crowd. Have you ever felt lonely in a crowd? City life can be completely intimidating.

Japan is an exception here because Japan has always had a high rate of suicide.

My parents were mostly drunk and absent by the time I was 13. How can teens be expected to raise themselves? They can't, and they don't turn out to well as a result. My first suicide attempt was when I was 12. I did it because my father kicked me in the head, which convinced me that he hated me. To feel that you are hated by your own parents is dreadful and creates a whopping psychic wound.

Being hated by your spouse is also something terribly painful.

Being a failure at life is none to inspiring. I have only modest achievements to speak of, and very often I feel that my life it not only completely empty but also worthless. Many, many other people feel the same way.

It's a deep question and it's worth taking psychology classes to understand it.

  12. i think committing suicide is mostly caused by depression... sometimes it's because of being faced with a big problem, too much troubles that they can't handle, losing someone precious, feeling lonely when they r surrounded with people all of these things make that person feel the lack of happiness and gratitude and so they feel empty and that life has no meaning to them anymore and they think that this is gonna comfort them and relief their pain.

  13. Suicide is to relieve ones pain and not have to suffer with it anymore

its also an outlet for people to turn to who have lost hope in life.

the first stage of suicide is called the cry for help it's like self infliction

    of that matter.

  14. hmm.

    let's think about this one.

    uh, depression.

    BINGO!

  15. depression would be the number one reason. a happy person doesn't want to kill themselves
