  1. That a good question mate

Its pretty slack of him because he left without even telling his team mates. That is pretty low of him. Even after he had an interview and he said that the Bulldogs will come back and have a winning steak and then he takes off. It was all for show.

And i wouldn't no the other reason about him leaving but it cant just be about the money, there is something else. Well have to just sit back and wait for the news to unroll.

Hope this was helpful Darren :)

  2. He's a spoilt bratt.

alot of these footy players aren't grateful for the lives they have. all they do is play a game they love and get paid a CEO salary for doing it.

I would love to do that ! Instead the rest of us average folk have to work 9 hrs a day, all year long. and 1 in 2 of us don't like our job.

some of these footy players just plain p**s me off. They get to sleep with many girls, get paid reall well and play the odd game of footy. what a great lifestyle.

lets get sonny and make him work in a factory each day. he'll start crying.

alot of these footy players want more money too. they already get paid enough...how much more they do they want? Money can influence and control almost anyone. that's why millionaires always date models.

he's an idiot sonny. he could've made all the money he wanted to here. what the h**l is he gonna do in France? it's a **** country compared to Australia. what an idiot. ruined his life over a bit of money and an inflated ego.

go and visit a children's hospital sonny and get back down to earth. Gasnier is another idiot. no loyalty at all. hope is chokes on the extra money.

No loyalty to fans and no loyalty to a club. why would u want a guy like that on ur team anyway?

  3. this is what i think, sonny got the call from france 2 weeks ago before he left. he thought, Mark gasner left the country for money, willi mason left the club and left sonny bill down. SBW thought, ok he didnt care about loyality and why should i. also bulldogs are running 2nd last. so no point of staying in the club. its a one man team. so he left.

  4. Money, money, money!!!!! That's it, greed plain and simple.

  5. ******* dog ****, leave and say nothing. He only plays 2/3 of the season and gets 450k ? ******* spoilt f*g, other people are doing harder work and getting paid less. If he comes back, hes gonna get hit, simple as that!

  6. I think he thinks he is the greatest and no one can tell him what he can and can't do. I hope he comes down to earth with a big thud and finds out that it's not all about SBW. I don't really care that he is gone but I think it is really low that he walks out at a time when the club needs him most. Young kids look up to this fool and he has let down so many people. I agree that the salary cap needs to stay because even if we didn't have the salary cap which club in Australia could afford to pay SBW 3 million dollars over 2 years, none I'm guessing. I don't really care if he had issues with the Bulldogs or the NRL there are better ways of dealing with them than the way he has.

    'What goes around comes around'

  7. He has probably been watching the Tour de France and wants a piece of the pie, he wants to support Cadel in the Alps next year to take on Team CSC and feels he needs a year of preparation, afterall the Bulldogs won't feature in the finals this year so leaving seven games early it will allow him for more tour de france preparation time.

  8. I'm not entirely sure, but I get the impression that there are a few bulldogs players that aren't too happy with club management

  9. Because the bulldogs tricked him into signing a pathetic amount of money for 5 years by scare tactics telling him that his knee would prevent him from a possible future so he better sign up for 5 as no other club would take him if he got injured, so for security he felt pressured and scared and because he is still young he signed up. The Bulldogs acted like dogs towards him with tricks so they could cheaply keep him, and he just gave it back to them on the weekend because those dog managers don't desreve to have him. look at how much this club cares about their players, remember when they got the spoon when they were about to play finals all because of the dogs in managment, they don't give a c**p about their players

  10. bulldogs have been having trouble ever since they got caught paying over the salary cap. If SBW did this 2 seasons ago it wouldn't have been such a big issue. Now its only because he's their only big name star but you could see this building most ages ago and don't understand the big shock.

    Good luck to him

  11. Yes, I think part of it is money. But, I think the main reason is that he just wants a life. He is only 22 & has been with the Bulldogs since he was 16, it was very early in that period that he was acclaimed as a future football superstar and ever since then he has had the spotlight of the media on him & all the public attention that goes with it. Apart from the slighest indiscretion being public knowledge, you wouldn't be able to go anywhere in public without people looking at you and talking about you, and of course there is always the yobo who would want to impress their mates by having a go at you.

Before you condemn him imagine how you would feel at that age if you were in his shoes. Lets face it , life in Sydney is a fishbowl existence for an elite NRL player. And, from what I've seen of SBW on TV interviews I get the impression that he is basically a pretty shy kid. By going to France I think he would be able to have a more normal life, for starters Rugby in France is'nt as big as Soccer & therefore Rugby players there would attract far less interest than NRL players in Sydney ( incidentally I think that is a major reason for the Storms' success - in an Aussie Rules mad town, their stars are able to lead a basically normal life). So, given all that, if you were him and someone was offering 3 times as much money to move, could you honestly say that you wouldn't do the same?

Then there is the issue of him slipping off without telling his team mates, but if he had you can be sure that it would be public knowledge within half an hour and he would have been hassled by the media and had to deal with all kinds of threats from Bulldog officials.

As far as I'm concerned elite footy has become a business and clubs only want you as long as they think having you is to their benefit. So lets forget this loyalty c**p. I think the Bulldogs should just forget about it and move on, if he had broken his contract to play with a rival NRL club then that would be a different matter.

I hope the NRL doesn't try to send a message to other players by attempting to have the International Rugby Board ban him from playing Union, because the only message that would send to our elite players is to make sure that when they sign future contracts that they have included an escape clause to allow them to go and play Rugby if they get a bigger offer.

So to SBW good luck to you and thanks for the memories, and to people out there, the game will continue to prosper even we lose a few of the big names, because the game is a great spectator sport and the comp is a great comp & finally there is always great new talent coming through to replace players who leave.

  12. Billy has turned down a better deal at the beginning of this year. he could have left like other players did to sydney roosters, another club offered him heaps and this deal was made a few years ago.

his loyalty was not reciprocated by canterbury bulldogs, they treated him as a young player- not in the spotlight, not white enough- therefore no celebrity potential, thefore they convinced him to sign a 3 year contract at a cheap price

the guy has heaps of potential and he wants to be recognised, he gave loyalty a shot, but the club is not into that - dont get treated like dirt- this is why Gallop wanted him banned from NRL- he doesnt care about the guy's skills- he just wants him to play for NRL and let NRL get the money

so its about greed- not by Bill, but by NRL  and the canterbury chiefs.  the guy from Newcastle had nothing to do with it

Why did they drag Antony Mundine into it? They had to raise it up in the article when he's not involved. Think about it people!!!! They just want us to hate a certain group of people in society.

So its down to greed and racism at the NRL. You can do a comparative study of salary rates for different players based on race.

  13. Money.

  14. it was money ,and the NRL do not realise that under there salary cap you restrict a persons earnings, and in Europe ,where sonny will play ,they take a dim view on that contract or not the only answer is to stop the salary cap or more players will go

  15. Now let me think Bankstown or Toulon South of france. Playing Union for double the money and might even play for my dream team the All Blacks If I am lucky... Geez Hard choice dont you think.. Stop crying you convicts hehe

  16. Well said kingcab.People forget that the suits who run the clubs are with you when things are great.however when things go the other way........ Also why not go if he is unhappy still there it will effect the rest of the team, you and I get a choice as to change our jobs or not( some do it for less money)..I think he should have said something to his teammates though..No more long term contracts...NRL GET YOUR ACT together or there will be more SBW..Sport is business.. NRL GET UP WITH THE 21st CENTURY.Good question ten out of ten

  17. He is money hungry thats why he left... he has no loyalty what so ever.. but the nrl dont need a player that rarely plays anyway.. i dont know what the big fuss is over SBW..

  18. Probably couldn't stand the embarrassment of playing for the dogs any longer! lol

  19. A good question Darren!

A lot of people appear to be jumping to the conclusion that it is purely because of the re numeration package offered by Toulon and the sleazy dealings of his alledged new manager,Khoder Nasser.

I would like to wait and see what else comes to light as the dust settles. I am confident that it will be more than just money that has lead to Sonny's decision to scarber.

Politics, Human relations and how he feels about his surroundings both personal and professional must be addressed and I am sure Sonny wouldn't just go to France on a Whim.

Lets wait to hear from the man himself!

  20. the father of my brother's team mate in his junior league team is the equipment manager for the bulldogs first grade team. Apparently SBW's parent are on the dole and leech off SBW for money and to add to that SBW bought them a 3 STOREY house couple years ago...so now it kinda makes sense why he needed more money LOL.

  21. Sonny heard that french toilets flush anticlockwise and sonny being the king of dunny knowledge wanted to see this for himself !! OUI OUI.

  22. Sonny Boy! is his real name

Let him go .. your all better off with out the buffo

  23. offcourse there is another reason besides the money!

SBW has been unhappy at the bulldogs for awhile

since mason left he has felt let down, him and mason were close then he just left

ever since then sonny bill has had to be the one to control the dogs, help them win the games and everything has been on him

there is so much media on him whenever he does something

no wonder he wants to just leave

this past year it shows he has been unhappy

  24. too many dickheads in sydney, mainly in the media.

also its ok for a club too forget Loyalty when it wants to loss a player, but when the player does it the club whines on about loyalty. but he should have told them all then walked.

  25. well there is a whole bunch of reasons, firstly i think because the NRL is struggling all round.

Player dissatisfaction and lack of funds are plummeting the league, Rugby Union is a new broader challenge for most players and gives them a chance to tackle the world.

Pay is obviously another factor and unfortunately for NRL, union is a much higher paid sport.

As well as this most people find that Rugby union is a better sport.

  26. There are more big , beautiful sheep in France...He is going over there to pick up a mail order ewe....He'll be Baaaaaaack!!

  27. to hook up with his g*y french lover

  28. More to the Point, Who actually cares that Sonny Bill has left. Let him go, deal with it and move on. Looking at some of the young talent coming through, it won't be look before he will be forgotten

  29. money and playing in a better code.

  30. He wanted to see Cadel win the Tour de France and cheer on the other Aussie survivors of the world's toughest sporting event.

  31. his been whinging and chucking the s***s about his restrictions on what he is allowed and not allowed to be a part of

so thats why his left his given up!

    I don't believe it's about money intierally
