Hey, I took a took a look at wiggysan's question I saw that almost all the answerers find Pedrosa arrogant.I don't know guys, may be you have a point but as far as I have watched ,Dani is the most quiet rider out there.I have seen him showing emotions of joy or anger not more than three or four times and the rest of the time he lacks any expression. Honestly he's the last rider I'd give such a qualification,so where does your "arrogant" definition come down to???

  1. Hi Sunny Babe, I wouldn't call him arrogant either. Professional is how i would describe him. Very professional.

and he does show a little emotion now and then, anger towards Lorenzo. he congratulated Rossi last week. I laughed at his w@n**r gesture to the lorenzo pit crew when crossing the finish line to win.  and Off the track away from GP he is an ordinary guy. (really) saying that, his quiet personality is still what makes him a character of the GP circuit. and as long as he keeps riding like he does i don't care what kind of personality he has.

  2. Hey Tonya!

Well, it's not always about emotions. Sometimes it's even when you are not showing any. I've noticed several times his lack of communication with other riders, no willingness to even congratulate a fellow rider. I don't know if you've heard, there was something going on between him and Lorenzo, who claimed those exact thins I just pointed out.

I've seen Edwards wishing luck to Vale, same with Stoner and the rest, but never seen any relationship between Pedrosa and Nicky. It's just strange, don't you think?

Not that it should matter what kind of a person he is, he is still a great rider, a real competition. But I see this thing in him, like he doesn't want to be there, no passion for the sport, just the urge to win, to get the title. Plus he is Spanish... I rarely like Spanish people.... not that this is important, just decided to mention it :P

just found this photo! Pedrosa smiling! Woo-Hoo ;))

you know what, I'm about to take my words back... When he won today I finally saw happiness in him! He was actually enjoying himself ;)

  3. I guess people have that love / hate with him.

We all know he is a massive talent, but he never seem's to show his passion. It 's almost like " its a job to do " rather then a passion that pays the bills.

I think the world loves the person rather then what they can / or have done.

    E.G

Rossi : Ever since that "rushing to the toilet", or "the giant chicken", or even the "supermodel blow up doll" antics, the world has loved him. He antics make us smile and laugh, We [ as humans ] like this. He then has beaten everybody at everything, won 7 world titles and re-wrote the rule book.

Mamola : NEVER won a world title. I almost need to re-write that. NEVER. But the world loves him. His style, passion, love for the sport. His none stop work with Rider's for Health, his 2 seater ride's ( £1000 minuimum bid )

Pedrosabot : Sets pole. Takes fastest lap. Wins race ............. gets off bike in Parc Ferme, and looks at the back tyre.

No smiles, no one foot wheelies, no burn outs, not (much) waving to the crowd, then the most misserable post race interview you could ever listern to.

Is he arrogant .................... a little yes, Is he boring........... Ohh yeah.

  4. Hi T, Pedrosa is just young and immature. He is only 21 and hasn't grown into a top quality rider like Rossi just yet. His wins show that he was good in 125cc better in 250cc but has still not proven himself in MotoGP which may also be bothering him. To finish fifth last year was good but nothing to brag about. And having three World titles in a row 2003(125cc), 2004 and 2005 (250cc) could give him an air of importance or perceived arrogance but he isn't deserving of any great praise yet other than riding fast.

Last season finishing with two wins compared to Rossi's five wins leaves him short no pun intended.  But when you compare World championship titles with Rossi at 27: 1997 (125cc); 1999 (250cc); 2001 (500cc); 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 (MotoGP) he could be on a better path than Rossi so let's see if he can make the Dr. look like an intern or not.

I would agree with the last 3 posters that he is more boring than arrogant but like I said he needs to grow into himself or find his identity on MotoGP. But after one third of the season to be sitting in 2nd after Rossi is pretty nice. So maybe he is looking to follow in Hayden & Stoners foot steps and keep Rossi out of a 1st place finish but the Dr. is extremely consistent.

  5. Hey Sunny babe

I don't think I've ever called him arrogant - perhaps a tad boring - but you're right in thinking he seems to have picked up this tag somehow.

I often get the feeling that he is perhaps more shy than stand-offish, and also so singleminded and buttoned up, that people assume he has no personality, rather than just doesn't wish to show it to the general public (or even the other riders).

I don't know why, and I don't know if that is the case - but it's true that he wouldn't win any popularity polls on this website (or many others??)

    hmmmmmmmmm?

  6. Hi Sunny - I personally would call him miserable and dull.

But I also once or twice - OK more than that (& not that long ago) labelled Mr Toaster with the same description.

HOWEVER, after seeing many links provided by our good friends Mr Wiggy, Mr Proc and a few others -

I had to eat a bit of humble pie!

So I am willing to accept that I could indeed be wrong - but for now I see him as an excellent 'little' racer who's the most dull and misserable man I've seen in racing.

I think it's very easy for us to be mistaken by his unemotional behaviour which has maybe lead us to beleive he is arrogant - in fact the perfect representation of arrogance is, I belive Lorenzo.

    Good to meetcha Sunny - x*x -
