  2. because we keep making more and more so it loses its value based on the "gold standard"

  3. a. NO! The dollar is NOT on the gold standard and hasn't been for decades.

    b. Yes, overprinting dollars weakens the power of dollars, and leads to stagflation.

    c. Lack of productivity, innovation and true competition have led us to be a nation that produces very little the rest of the world wants to buy. And we buy a lot of our goods from elsewhere. When we actually get productive and manufacture something other countries want, then the dollar will strengthen.

    It's pretty simple when you think about it.

  6. The biggest reason is probably the trade deficit in the recent years. The U.S government funds deficits in the federal budget by selling  debt with government bonds and most of these bonds are bought by foreign investors. Besides low interest rates decrease overseas investments and deficit in goods and services weakens the dolar even worse...
