  1. They spent the entire offseason getting Aaron Rodgers ready-minicamps, etc.. If Favre came back, the public outcry would've been a major distraction if Rodgers ended up remaining the starter.

I think Packers management felt it was time to move on and think about the long term future of the team. Let's face it, the Pack is loaded with talent. Rodgers can be an average quarterback and this is still a playoff team.

  2. because he lied to them on how he didnt want to play they asked him multiple times if he was gunna come back and he said no.... they moved on and they will do just fine starting arron rodgers because he learned from perhaps the best off all time.... and he was a first rounder, its not like he doesn't have talent....

  3. They wanted him...he wanted more $$$$$$$ than they were willing to dish out.  That's what I think.  I haven't really followed up on the current news since he decided to go with the NY Jets.

  4. They needed to find out if Rodgers is the future before he had an opportunity to leave via FA. For all the naysayers keep in mind this is a very young team and growing a QB along with the rest of the offense is the smart thing to do longterm. Given the overall weakness in the NFC they are still legit playoff contenders this year so the decision to move on and build not only the present but the future is the only move they could make. Plus if they kept Favre then they have opened themselves up to yet another offseason of the "will I or Wont I" saga they have endured for the past 3 offseasons. Keep in mind he has 2 years left on his deal, he could make a team deal with this again after this season, fans need to recognize what this does to a team with the salary cap always needing tending to. They finally grew tired of not being able to plot out an offseason course not knowing if they need to keep 13 mill. clear or if they could sign a top free agent. It was the right move for the immediate and longer term future of the franchise (fans need to recognize 1 guy doesnt make a team and sometimes they can cause more harm than good....salary cap, player developement, etc.).

  5. Don't get me wrong:  I love the Packers.  They are my all time favorite team.  I'm not just saying that.  BUT THE PACKS MANAGMENT ARE IDIOTS!

  6. They wanted him to retire because they were itching to get the backup for Favre to play because his contract was running out and they wanted to know how well he actually is so they could decide wether to trade him or keep him with the Packers.

  7. Because they are thinking about the future. Brett Favre is good for another year maybe 2. Aaron Rodgers can play for another 10 or more years. You can't just cater to a player just because he is a fan favorite. This is the second time he said he was going to retire and didn't. Beside, I believe that Aaron Rodgers will be a very good quarterback in the nfl.

  8. hes old and suffering from the madden curse which means hes gonna suck this year

  9. Unfortunately Bretts been talking about retiring for years. So GB has been preparing Rodgers from day one years ago. But when brett said he was gonna retire back in March. They had to put in a lot of time into making sure rodgers and the team works will together. I mean you are talking about one of the NFCs best teams and they have to turn around and do just as good or better then last year. So GB didnt want that time to go to waste. Plus they had already told Rodgers that he was the starting QB and Brett didn't want to play for GB unless he was the starter.

  10. Aaron Rodgers was learning all the plays, and had a good chemisty going into the season, so they wanted him over favre so they would have the same act going into the season and they already adjusted to aaron.

  11. Rodgers is the QB of the future for the pack and has been since they drafted him. Favre "retired" so the packers told rodgers he was the starter. they already adjusted the playbook and everything for rodgers and they didnt want to have to re adjust for Favre again.

  12. Because the Packers didn't think Favre was committed enough ( drills, practices,playbook...) and wanted to move forward in a new direction/era with A-Rodg; and that, I cannot blame them for.

  13. because if they let brett play than it would mess with the teams chemistry, it would mess with aaron rodgers, it would mess up the entire packer franchise for 5 years, and they spent alot of money bringing in Brian Brohm and Matt Flynn in the draft. And in the end due to all the misunderstandings between Brett and the Pack Brett didnt even want to play for green bay.

  14. I'm a Packers fan. My Mom's friend's husband works for the Packers. He says the Real story is that the Packers have had to move on from Brett, but Brett didn't want to quit. So they made him retire and all of that. After a while in Mississippi Brett said forget this I'm not done playing yet. So he came back and wanted to play against the Packers because he was upset with them. (That was why he wanted to go to Minnesota) The Packers said "NO WAY, you are not playing against us." So they ended up trading him to the Jets so that at least that way he can play and be happy, and not play against the Packers.

Aaron Rodgers is gonna be Great!!!! =)

P.S. Hope this answers your question well.

  15. they couldn't depend on him....
