Is it because they took so many jobs to different countries and laid so many people off, and caused so many people to loose their jobs, is this why no one can buy new cars, and is the the reason the auto industry is in a recession???

  1. it's because gas costs $4.00 per gallon and people are finally saying they don't want big gas guzzling SUV's anymore and that's what the automakers have been making

  2. laying people off and outsourcing their jobs was more likely beneficial to the auto industry. cheaper labor = more profits.

..the industry is probably in recession more from fuel costs/ everything is more expensive now a days.. also more affordable/dependable/efficient cars coming from asian nations

  3. ain't no recession in the auto industry.

  4. Thats probably a lot to do with it but I bet it is mostly to do with two other factors.  New cars are not yet fuel efficient enough to justify an upgrade over gas high gas prices; there are way too many cars already on the market.  If I wanted to I could find a three year old car that had never been driven but for test drives.  In the 90s and early 2000s there was a huge emphasis on building cars to last a long time.  well, those cars are still around AND the manufacturers haven't slowed down so the market is completely glutted.
