Why do you think the institution of marriage is dying in western society?

I hardly hear that anyone is getting married

I thin kpart of it is that society and the media (s*x and the city etc) have brainwashed people into thinking that the single/non comitted life is great fun and being married means you are 'tied down' and become old and boring.

I got married at 18 and all my friends couldn't undrestandit, thy kept saying 'But don't you want to have fun??' like just because you are married you turn into a boring housewife and can't go clubbing etc.

people are getting too individualised,working mostly for self satisfaction.Giving birth to young ones,nurturing them and  keeping a family together requires patience,sacrifice,lot of pain.Since carnal pleasures come easy,marriage is too big a sacrifice.Today,s western society thinks that it is ridiculous to get married to the idea of marriage.In fact young people are just too scared lest they may get hurt in marriage,little do they realise that marriage is the only ritual which has been practised since time immemorial and the only one which can hold this world together

Why should someone get married and bind himself with one person, needless to say the responsibilities that come along with the commitment, if one could just move in with the person that they like/love without any real commitments?

Why should i pay the price if it comes for free?

I was once told that the oldest piece of paper with the word marriage on it ever found was the ones that we read in the Holy Bible.  This would then mean that God himself is the true inventor of marriage.  But, we have become a selfish and GREEDY society and no longer have room for God or his laws in our life...though we will make room for his miracles anytime...restoring health, just miss accidents, winning lottery's (some people think this is a miracle) and of course lets not forget those "Acts of God" we can claim on our insurance for more money!!!

All you need to do is look at the fall of Rome and you will see that we are just about a spitting image!!!
