Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  But whatever one may think of the British royals' familial appearance, they are due mostly to genes.  Fortunately, Princess Diana infused a set of more comely genes into the pool, and her sons are considerably more handsome than their father.  Consequently, future generations of British royals, if the dynasty persists, will probably be more presentable to the general public.

I wouldn't agree that most royal families are ugly. Even when it comes to the British royal family, ugly isn't a word I would use to describe them, because 'ugly' would be far too kind a description.

Apart from the centuries of inbreeding ("keep all that loot in the family!" is one of their mottoes) there's the many hours they spend gloating over their wealth, in darkened rooms, hunched over.
