Why do you want to learn Spanish?

And what would you prefer to learn first?

I'm trying to start a little business teaching Spanish and I'm trying to get a feeling for the market. What fascinates you about the language? How do you think it will be useful in your life? What if you never plan to go abroad, why do you still learn it?

  1. because it sounds amazing when its spoken and it would be useful when I go to Spain on holiday.

    do the basics first, like the alphabet and numbers and simple sentences.

    ..and then the more complicated stuff.. :)


  2. I spent a year in Argentina and neglected to learn Spanish before I went. It would have been so much more fun if I had. I have no plans to go there again (or anywhere else that is Spanish-speaking) but I still would like to learn Spanish, so I'm doing it in my spare time now.

    It's fun, it's an easy language to learn, and the pronounciation is musical.

  4. i would definitly want to learn spanish. its the most spoken language in the world so its good to know. i was recently in a spanish speaking country and the whole time i wished i could speak the language. plus if i ever go into international business it would be common sense.

  6. well since i'm in houston, where EVERYONE LITERALLY speaks spanish..i kinda have to. but i kinda don't really want to...spanish is just as common as english..i would like to learn something a little more hot, like italian or french...that kind of stuff..

  8. I study Spanish because I'm a Spanish and International Business. I think the language would be good to know given my career.

    I also enjoy Spanish music and want to be able to understand all the lyrics.

  9. know more than one language in itself is just a good ability to have. I want to learn it because i live in NY and more job are available to those who speak spanish and other languages. some of these jobs pay more for being multilingual

  10. im a freshman in high school and im learning spanish bcuz most colleges require 2-3 years of foreign language and since my school sux, the only languages i could choose from were french and spanish and i thought spanish would be easier so thats y im learning it. =]

  11. It is very useful, especially in California where i live...so please remember that but also its a pretty language, yet nothing is as beautiful as French.

    You can travel in Spanish,study there or even go to South America and communicate with all... belongs to the global languages

  15. There are so many Hispanics moving to Utah, I think it would be helpful to understand them. Plus, you get paid more here when you're bilingual in English and Spanish. I have a few Hispanic friends at work and it would be fun to talk to them in Spanish. I took a year of it in High School, but that's as far as I got.

    Also, my dad's side of the family is Mexican desecent. I thought it would be nice if I could learn some of my ancestors language.

  16. I learn Spanish becuz I am a language freak, plus it is one of the most common languages in the world. I plan to be a business person after I graduate high school and college.

  18. Because half my neighbors speak Spanish and it's nice to know people aren't saying "check out the dumb gringo" on the rail.
