  1. All animals need protein to rebuild and replace body cells.  Young animals require more than mature animals because you also have to take care of the growth component as well as maintenance.

  2. Young animals need protein so they can grow. Simply put: animals are made of (mostly) protein.

  3. Amino acids are the basic building blocks of protein. The small intestine breaks down the protein into these molcules and sends them via the blood stream to all cells in the body. Every cell needs protein (for receptors, channels, and DNA, and tons of other things) In order for cells to grow (ie divide) they need this protein. Therefore baby animals that are growing and animals that are building muscle and working hard need more protein. Hope this helps it is EXTREMELY simplified there are courses upon courses about stuff like this.

  4. All animals need protein. Young, fast growing animals, like chickens, need a lot of protein to develop muscle, which is made up mainly of protien.

  5. food is made (mostly) of 3 things. Fat, sugar (or starch), and protein. Of the three, only protein provides the "building blocks" for a body. the fat and sugar only provide enegry. Your question is kind of like saying why cant a car be made only of gasoline and oil.

  6. to grow big and strong
