  1. I,m 54 years old. I did it my self and my uncles a generation before me did, My son modifies his, I still modify every vehicle I get . I think that it's really just a way to indiviualize your vehicle in an effort show your own personality. I have a 30 year old Harley FLH and a Toyota pickup.I've modified the bike pretty heavily, and put custom wheels and smoked wind deflectors on the truck.Just an effort not to look like every other one on the road, and to reflect one's own personality. As far as modifications that might compromise safety, NEVER! I've made a few mods to enhance safety issues, mainly tire and brake mods. I hope this may be of some help  to you. Good luck with your article!

  2. the mods don't compromise safety, they usually make them safer and faster

  3. Unfortunately  a lot of the mods done now compromise safety and they do not think about it. Lowering as much as they do now affects the handling as does putting tall wheels on a car. Sound systems so loud  they can be heard blocks away  prevent the driver from sirens. The spoilers and ground effects are only for looks the cars do not go fast enough  to use them and driving fast on public roads is dangerous. So what it boils down to is kids now days do nothing to make a car safer and in many ways make it more of a hazard
