Why do younger dogs feel they have to be the center of attention?

I have 3 dogs,2 male 1 female. My older dogs kira and Barker mated and made a puppy. About 7 months later the puppy Jumbo started biting Barker his farther on the ear and Jumbo barks at me when I am not playing with him.

Your puppy now feels that he's at that age when he can 'out-do' his Dad and become leader of the pack! Unless this is prevented you'll have daily fights on your hands which will get worse until Dad really hurts the pup! Its a dominance thing between dad and son and unless dad is too old or too silly to concede then your pup is in danger of being really damaged! If the older dog allows this to go on then they will have to be separated because the pup will hurt the older dog! Its called a vicious circle for more reasons than one! Best of luck.

Well, puppies are like babies. They need to sometimes be the centre of attention. Your younger dog will grow out of that phase eventually. Right now however, just give it what it wants! Some extra love!! :)

You need to take your dog to an obediance class, this is not normal behaivoir. When he barks, you cannot give in and play with him, then you're just rewarding him for barking.  When he barks you can lightly tap him on the nose, this is an uncomfortably feeling for a dog that he won't like. You aren't hurting him this way, just don't hit him too hard.
