  1. Your irritating your eyes which can make them bloodshot, if your eyes are dry [which makes you rub them] try treating them with drops or something like that.

  2. Constant rubBing them is even worse - double the redness......

  3. Rubbing your eyes continually can cause irritation of the conjunctiva, which leads to increased blood flow; this is what causes conjunctival 'injection' (i.e., bloodshot appearance).

Note that other things make your eyes look bloodshot, such as allergies, lack of sleep, ill-fitting contact lenses, and drug use.  In the case of allergies, the blood vessels dilate in response to an allergen.  In the case of ill-fitting contacts (and lack of sleep), the conjunctiva and sclera (the white part of the eye) become starved for oxygen; the response is to dilate blood vessels to increase blood flow and oxygen delivery.

While you can buy over-the-counter medicines to constrict the blood vessels in your eyes (e.g., Visine), this is only a temporary measure.  It's best to eliminate the underlying cause or, in your case, to avoid rubbing your eyes in the first place.

  4. 'im pretty sure its just because you irritate them
