Why do your hands burn when you put them in warm water after playing in the snow?

  1. your body adjusts to the cold and the sudden change makes the heat seem greater. it's the sam way if you out them in hot water, then ice water.

    anyway we learned this in chem this year bahaha when we were learning about endothermic and exothermic reactions. it burns because it undergoes a rapid change in temperature, from freezing cold to warm (or vice versa) and the temperature change causes energy/heat to be released or absorbed....in that case its endothermic and absorbs heat/energy, which feels like a burn. just look up endothermic and exothermic reactions if you want to know more about it.

  4. your nerves don't feel heat or cold, they respond to temperature change. the greater the change the bigger the response. when the change is too great you get overload which your brain perceives as pain.

  5. Because they become more sensitive from the cold snow..
