e.g. Man questioned over French students HOMICIDE.(London)

Some American English is older than UK English, but they need to be kept separate so that we know where the article is based. This is a cultural neccessity of clarity for those whose second language is English. Students (US, British and foreign)may lose marks in examinations because of such obfuscation.

  1. Could call things Murder Death Kills like in The science fiction movie Demolition Man starring Sylvester Stallone this might help. Also a good point there is no Homicide Division in The U.K. it is called Special Investigations or Murder Squads maybe. There you have it if something more catch then Homicide comes along then things will change. Murder Death Kill repeat enough and Britain will rid itself of it's Amercanisms and bring back Murder to The English lanquage. Here is athought an article entitled The Murder Of The English Language. This could be good for a number of copies. Hot as Hot Cross Buns.

  2. Homocide is not American.

Homicide is from the Latin homicidium, Latin homo, man; and caedere, to slay.

  3. Because your American language, like your culture, is a horrible cancer that is slowly eating up the cultured world from the inside.

  4. Why do your Americans use English when it's nothing like actual English?  You can guess  from the name of it that it comes from England, surely, so let's not get petty.

  5. So i take it you are slagging off your own lanquage!

  6. Lets consider that sentence........some American English is older than UK English.....................

Sir......I have furniture in my house that is older than your country.  The above is of course unutterable nonsense.

  7. Homicide is a good English word.  It covers murder (what Americans call first or second degree) manslaughter (third degree) and causing death by negligence.  Most of the stories you find on news sites come from international press agencies.  They tend to use American English.  The Brits can cope with American, but Americans have problems with British English.
