Question:

Why does Al Gore have so many devotees?

His views on global warming are ludicrous, not to mention his stance in politics. All he does is spread fear throughout the country.

And what do you all think about that scientist who said that the solar flares(or sun spots, can't remember whichone) are indicating we are going into global cooling soon?

*post script, please don't have strong words for me for stating my opinion. I know you guys can get quite angry when people diss your mesiah, Gore.

  1. Don't be too hard on the young as they were required to watch Gore's movie. They have been brain washed by this lie. There temperature data is very old and uncalibrated thermometers. If U examine it closely it is near impossible to calculate Global temperature.

  2. I'm in North America, and I've noticed the last few months have been much warmer than they were just six months earlier.

In fact, I'm having to run air conditioning in my home and car instead of heat.

What more proof could you need than that?

  3. He doesn't.   He introduces people to the subject, then they go out and learn for themselves and find not all he says is true, but some is.   Its the people that don't believe in climate change at all that say anyone who does worships gooore.   Since you brought it up, what about shrub and his ludicrous stance on politics?   All he does is spread fear throughout the country himself.   Why did we invade Iraq again?   It wasn't for the WMD's which he "knew" exactly where they were.   It wasn't because they supported terrorism- sadman gassed and tortured any  terrorists he could find.

P.S.    Please don't have strong words for me for stating my opinion.   I know you guys can get quite angry when people diss your mesiah, Shrub.

  4. I didn't know he had any "devotees": Do you have a source that quotes a number? He's certainly no messiah of mine, in fact, I have repeatedly said on this forum that I don't know why these sorts of questions are even here  - Gore is irrelevant to the science of AGW. He may have brought the issue to the attention of some Americans who had somehow previously missed an issue that the entire world had been discussing for ages (e.g. An Inconvenient Truth was released in 2006. The first Kyoto protocol on global warming was signed in 1997 - almost ten years before).

This is a typical denier-straw-man argument:

Start with a falsehood and then ask people to justify the falsehood.

As for the solar activity theory do you mean the one that was disproven years ago? The one that says recent global warming is related to solar activity despite there being zero correlation between the two? The one that even my six-year-old nephew was able to see that the two are not connected?

    That theory?

"Trolling" has been defined "as a method used to discredit an opposing position, or its proponent, by argument fallacy ad hominem"; your question does exactly that:

You are trolling, not asking a genuine question

  5. People like answers. Even if they aren't true they still like to assume they know what is going on. Same reason religion has followers. People who are scared of the unknown like death and dying turn to something that gives them peace. Al Gore has nothing better to do but rub our face with global warming. He stole a video clip from the move "the day after tomorrow", which he put in his movie he made. He also quoted facts about   submarines and measuring ice shelves further back then submarines existed. He is crazy. But the people who follow him are crazier. They need something to believe and something that makes sense to them. Seriously, we only contribute a small amount of his so called "carbon footprint". He is wack and though yes we do contribute still, it is not on the level he thinks. This earth would produce so much "carbon" with or without us. Driving electric cars, making sure the right air pressure is in our tire. Thats all BS. I am not saying everyone should drive a SUV but people have to get real. There are already soo many cars on this planet if you abandon them to get better or greener cars now we have more cars to take to the dump that are left overs plus we used more resources to make the new cars. It's a stupid cycle. I personally don't care for him and I drive what I drive when I want to drive it. s***w it. I am going to use a lot of toilet paper today and drive faster. Happy earth day.. :)

  6. they r sheeple of course and dont know any better....solar events affect the weather more than my car does..

  7. I think you're confusing belief in anthropogenic global warming with support of Al Gore.  I'm not a Gore supporter, I've never voted for him, he says a few things in his movie that are misleading, and many that are irrelevant.

Now that I've said that, would you consider me a "devotee" of Al Gore because I believe that humans are causing climate change on Earth? I think many people that don't believe in it do so just because they don't like Al Gore.  Get over it. The evidence for global warming has nothing, repeat NOTHING, to do with Al Gore.

  8. You could ask the same question about Obama or Hillary. The only thing Obama has ever shown that he can do is give good speeches, yet he has thousands who think he walks on water. Then there is Hillary who seems to think that her years as first lady in Arkansas and the White House have somehow made her ready to lead the country...same story...thousands of devotees.

  9. Phillip has a very good point and Al Gore could be compared in his activities with a h**l-fire and brimstone camp meeting evangelist of the 20s and 30s kind of like Burt Lancaster’s “Elmer Gantry”. In fact that movie could be considered a prequel to the AGW religious evangelistic movement. I really do find it amazing that so many supposedly intelligent and educated people like some here that claim scientific status can fall for such old time con games unless they might be participants in the con making very good money off of it.
