I have a friend in his mid 30's who is one of the nicest guys you could meet. Until that is he has a few beers. 2 or 3 is fine but when he gets pat 5 he becomes aggressive and its like a dark cloud descends over his head. I have spoken to him about this and although very remorseful the next day it seems to make no difference? Is there a physiological or a Psychological reason this happens and can I do anything to help

  1. i duno but sometimes it actually helps people to let their hair down

  2. it lessens inhibitions and causes a person to become a more extreme version of their true personality.  your friend needs help -alcohol is a drug.

  3. i understand how you feel my brother in laws the same he's such a wonderful person sober but the minute he has a few he turns paranoid and horrible.... when people drink it causes a chemical reaction in the brain which causes people to change hence why some people get giddy and happy or nasty and paranoid... you have to sit down when he's sober and try and explain what he's doing to you and others around you and make him listen good luck

  4. I think alcohol changes peoples actions because the alcohol is absorbed into the blood stream then carried to the brain which the dis functions slightly  and leaves one not quite in control of the feelings or actions.

  5. alcohol obviously affects him in a very negative way.  some people are more prone to violent episodes while drinking heavily depending on your brain makeup and personality.  alcoholics are some of the nicest people but alcoholics come in all shapes and forms and from every lifestyle imaginable.  he also could be "blacking out" when his behavior starts to become destructive or angry.  he might not even remember some of his behavior.

  6. Because it's a drug.

  7. I think some people just can't drink...maybe their brain is wired a bit differently and alcohol turns a bad switch on in the brain... I have a friend like that and sadly  she makes a horrible drunk...I videoed her one time at a family party she never saw the video until some some years later and when she saw it she realised what I was trying to tell her all these years...she now only has 2 glasses of wine with her dinner..pity I didn't show it to her many many years ago...better late than never I suppose.

  8. He shouldn't take more than 2 beers any time, it doesn't agree with him.

  9. It is a drug that effects the way the brain functions. i know people that get relaxed when drinking and are great fun. On the other hand i know people i avoid after they have had a beer or two. They want to fight the world, smash up things and become abusive. The moral of the story, know your limit when drinking alcohol.

  10. It is a drug.  It works like any other drug.  It changes people.

  11. Alcohol in large amounts removes a person's inhibitions.

    Alcoholism is a disease.
